2024 US Olympic Swimming Trials: Taylor Swift Dance Party Announced for Just $35 in NFL-Turned Stadium


Swimming fans are getting ready to dive into a unique celebration at the 2024 US Olympic Swimming Trials! Top swimmers are competing in various categories at the US Olympic Trials, but fans flying in can also look forward to an exciting surprise. 

The surprise comes in the form of Taylor Swift, the Grammy Award-winning singer and pop icon. Held in a revamped NFL stadium, this $35-ticket party combines sports and music for a summer highlight. It’s a fusion of elite athleticism and musical celebration that is sure to make waves among the thousands of fans flying in to witness this gala event. Will the 2024 US Olympic swimming trials turn into a pop concert?

Recently on IndyStar, it was revealed that the USA Swimming Olympic trials will hold an exciting live music feature. As more than 1000 athletes arrive from June 15-23 for the Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Indianapolis Colts of NFL, places in downtown Georgia Street will be transformed to host an estimated 250,000 spectators. The US swimming trials will be graced by legends like Katie Ledecky and Caeleb Dressel. It will also feature young talent in the form of Gretchen Walsh and Dare Rose who will try to make their first Olympic team. 

As per the rules, the top two of a race will make the team. Freestyle relay swimmers will be chosen according to their time. A maximum size of 26 women and 26 men will qualify. Keeping the spirit of a pool party alive, the streets will be filled with music for the thousands of spectators flying in for the trials.

On the 20th of June, there is also a surprise in the form of a Taylor Swift dance party. This is going to be quite a good surprise for the Swifties who are also fans of swimming. This might be great news for Kate Douglass who is an admitted hardcore Swiftie. The 7x world champion swimmer is eager to translate that success into winning at the Summer Olympics this year.

She recently revealed that meeting Taylor Swift is one of her biggest dreams besides owning a beach bungalow. Douglass also revealed her favorite songs by the artist, listing fan favorites. She said on her Instagram handle, “My all-time favorite is ‘Our Song’, one of her first albums. And then ‘All Too Well’, the 10-minute version. It’s a classic, it’s so good.” Hopefully, Kate Douglass will get to groove to her favorite beats after making her Paris Qualification dream a reality. 

A grand celebration in Indiana for the swimming trials 

Since the trials are being held in a football stadium, even more viewers can get a glimpse of their favorite athletes. The management of the swimming trials in Indianapolis has therefore decided on a grand celebration. The musical festivities will be kicked off by funk band The Main Squeeze on June 14th, at 8 pm. Following this, there will be nightly performances between 5:30 PM and 7 PM. Spectators can hope to see artists like Lovelytheband, which is a pop-rock group. Along with John Driskell Hopkins, one of the founding members of the Zac Brown Band.

The Motet adds some 90s flair to the lineup with Brittney Spencer, who has been featured on Beyoncé’s cover of Blackbird. Followed, of course, by the Taylor Swift dance party which will, hopefully, turn into a Taylor Swift concert. The last two days will be headlined by Fastball and Six Foot Blonde.

Moreover, the organizers of the event announced that there will also be a live DJ and a nearly 5-story or 66-foot Eiffel Tower replica. A 20,000-pound structure, 4,000 miles away on this side of the Atlantic, is being built by the Indy-based Latinas Welding Guild, with the glittering lights being supplied locally from AES Indiana. It will be installed on June 10th and will glimmer through the trials as 52 swimmers earn their ticket to the Summer Olympics in Paris.
