Couple are scared to go to the loo after a rat came at them from the toilet bowl as a vermin infestation rampaged through their home

A couple are scared to use the loo after a nightmare rat infestation ruined their home, with vermin climbing out of the toilet and biting them as they sleep.

Andy Roberts, 56, and Rosie Glazzard, 53, have been left stressed and terrified after their home of 30 years was invaded by vermin last December.

Shocking pictures show piles of rodent droppings under the bath of their home in Bannut Hill in Kempsey, Worcester.

Video also shows a rat splashing around in the toilet in their bathroom.

Mr Roberts’ big toe was also nibbled as he slept in bed while Ms Glazzard was also bitten on her foot as well as her bottom.

Ms Glazzard, who suffers from mental health issues, said: ‘I’ve been bitten three times.

‘I was bitten last night on the bum and bitten on the toe the night before.’

Their sofa and floorboards have been gnawed while the wires to their freezer have been chewed through as the rats swarm their home.

The couple first noticed they had a rat problem before Christmas and reported the issue to Malvern Hills District Council.

Platform Housing, which owns their home, were notified and they sent pest controllers to their maisonette where they trapped a rat in a jar.

Mr Roberts said: ‘We have asked the council to move us. We should not be living here with rats.

‘I can’t stay here tonight. We need somewhere else to go. When Rosie was asleep there was a rat on the back of the settee.

‘It was there for a few seconds, looking at me.

‘I could not believe my eyes when I saw one in the toilet bowl.

‘I felt a bit sick. It was a baby rat. Our neighbour Jan Jarvis came out and killed it. I didn’t have the nerve to do it.

‘We just don’t seem to be getting nothing done quickly enough to get rid of the rats.

‘How much longer have we got to stay in here with this rat problem?’

Although pest controllers have been out to put down poison in trays, Mr Roberts said it isn’t working.

Just days after the poison was set he found a baby rat swimming in his toilet.

Because Mr Roberts works as a cleaner at Meridian Speciality Packaging, he said he has been told not to come into work until the rats are gone.

Marion Duffy, chief operations officer at Platform Housing Group said: ‘We are sorry to hear of our customers’ concerns; we arranged for pest control to visit their home and we are awaiting their report so that we can deal with the issue.

‘We will continue to keep our customers updated.’
