7 Odd Things Celebrities Collect as Hobbies, That Make Sydney Sweeney’s Tile Collection Seem Alright

Hollywood loves to make its stars seem like they are from another planet, untouchable and living in a sparkly, otherworldly bubble. But people forget, celebs are just as human as the rest of us and yes, they read books, jam out to their favorite songs, and have hobbies that make them, well, them. Case in point: Sydney Sweeney’s quirky tiles collection recently made headlines. But guess what? She is far from the only one with some unique hobbies. Seven other celebrities actually make her look downright normal.

So, if fans thought Sweeney was the queen of weird for a minute, wait until they meet these seven stars who take eccentricity to a whole new level.

Emma Roberts is not only a doll but a collector of the same

In a recent Architectural Digest home tour, Emma Roberts could barely contain her excitement as she showed off her Los Angeles pad, especially with her prized collection of dolls. But these are not just any dolls. She was talking about “leggy Jill,” “drunk cowgirl Barbie,” and, of course, Blythe. Her doll obsession is already on another level, but what really cranked up the weird factor?

Roberts admitted she actually hopes they come to life one day. “I hope that every night–that they’ll come wake me up,” Roberts said. For anyone who has seen a few too many creepy doll horror movies, that is basically the plot of a nightmare! Speaking of creepy, if Emma Roberts’ personalized Toy Story lineup seems out there, wait until you hear about Johnny Depp’s toy land adventures.

Johnny Depp has a thing for Barbies

Johnny Depp has plenty of feathers in his hat, but one his fans would never guess? His love for collecting Barbie dolls. Back in 2015 on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Depp confessed that he used to “test characters” on his daughter Lily-Rose using these dolls, helping him nail iconic roles like Willy Wonka and Jack Sparrow.

Though he has paused on the playtime, word on the street is he still has a jaw-dropping collection of celebrity Barbies, including Donny and Marie Osmond, Beyoncé and ‘Destiny’s Child,’ Elvis Presley, New Kids on the Block, and even the whole High School Musical gang. Another actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, shares his interest on some level but with a little difference.

Leonardo DiCaprio likes to delve into unfamiliar Johnny Depp-like zone

Leonardo DiCaprio has a soft spot for dolls too, but forget Barbies and celebrity figures—he is all about action figures! He reportedly boasts an impressive collection of collectibles, including vintage Star Wars figures, rare He-Man toys, Planet of the Apes memorabilia, and more.

Occasionally, he even auctions off some of his vintage treasures to raise funds for the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. In a recent chat with The Sun, he revealed that his collection is growing every day, kind of like Amanda Seyfried’s quirky taxidermy zoo.

Amanda Seyfried is obsessed with post-mortem pets

If Sydney Sweeney’s tile collection puts her in the league of quirky legends, Amanda Seyfried is here to claim the crown with her taxidermy collection. Back in 2015, Seyfried spilled to The Standard about her unusual hobby—revealing that every one of her furry friends has a name. There is an owl named Beatrix, a chick named Linda, and a mini zebra named Kevin Sparkle who is actually bigger than her dog, Finn!

Seyfried’s favorite spot for picking up her post-mortem pals is the iconic shop Deyrolle in Paris. And when she is not shopping, her celeb friends are gifting her these frozen furs—Seth MacFarlane gave her the zebra, and Conan O’Brien handed over a stuffed raccoon, leaving her to wonder who does not have one at their house.

While Seyfried may wear the crown of creepy, Angelina Jolie is out here ready to snatch the throne of danger.

Angelina Jolie is a double-edged sword

If fans thought Angelina Jolie’s sharpest asset was her jawline, think again! It turns out that her real obsession lies in something a little more dangerous, blades and daggers. In an interview with Conan O’Brien, Jolie shared that her love for knives started when she was young, attending Renaissance fairs with her mom.

Over the years, she has built a jaw-dropping collection of blades, including custom-made balisong butterfly knives by the late Darrel Ralph, which reportedly took months to craft and fetch between $1,000 to $2,000 each on Arizona Custom Knives. But it does not stop there—Jolie has even passed her love for daggers down to her son, Maddox, who has been building his own collection since 2008, according to her W Magazine profile.

Safe to say, knives run in the family. While Jolie thrives in the danger zone, Martha Stewart prefers to keep her collections strictly in the safe, cozy lane.

Martha Stewart is keeping the crazy out of her basket

Since polyglot queen Sydney Sweeney spilled the beans on her quirky tile and shot glass collection, others have swooped in to snatch the crown of creep. But Martha Stewart is matching Sweeney’s oddity stride for stride with her massive basket collection. Stewart revealed on her blog that she has so many baskets, that she built an entire shed at her Bedford, New York estate just to house them, having dubbed the Basket House.

The Basket House is packed with hundreds of antique, vintage, and modern baskets made from pine and straw to willow. While Stewart’s basket obsession is charmingly unique, Tom Hanks prefers to geek out on retro tech with his own collection.

In a 2019 chat with The New York Times, Tom Hanks shared that he once had hundreds of typewriters, a collection he started at just 19! He called these machines a “brilliant combination of science and engineering” and declared that anything typed on one is a work of art. While he planned to narrow it down to just one favorite model back then, by 2023, he started sending them off to typewriter shops without any prompt.

Although it is unknown how many of his literary treasures are left in his garage, his legacy in the typewriter world is solid. He even penned a book of short stories in 2017, each featuring a typewriter, and starred in the documentary California Typewriter. Although Hanks may not have made his residency in the crazy department, others surely did with flying colors.
