This Morning fans disgusted by ‘absolutely gross and insensitive’ interview with mum-of-eight ‘Welfare Queen’ who hasn’t worked for seven years but splurged on designer vagina, boob job and a horse

This Morning fans were left disgusted by an ‘absolutely gross and insensitive’ interview with self-styled ‘Welfare Queen’ Marie Buchan during Monday’s episode.

Marie, 42, said she had treated herself to a boob job, a designer vagina and a horse over the past decade, despite spending most of her adult life on benefits.

Dubbed ‘Britain’s welfare queen’, Marie has received a total of around half a million pounds in taxpayers’ cash to support her eight children, who are all fathered by the same man.

And now she confessed that she understands why people have been ‘up in arms’ over her spending and revealed she is now wanting to ‘give something back’.

Chatting to show hosts, Cat Deeley and Ben Shepard, Marie said: ‘I’m willing to give something back now. I have raised my children so it is my time to go back into work.

When asked by Cat, “Why now?” Marie explained: ‘The kids are all older now. And I want to give them something as well. It’s not an inspiration really is it, if their mum is just claiming benefits.

‘I want to show them the right way.’

Despite her commitment to changing her ways, ITV viewers were left raging by the interview with the mother-of-eight as they labelled it ‘absolutely gross and insensitive’.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one penned: ‘What an absolute disgrace this benefits queen person is. Thank you this morning for giving her airtime and shown her up to be the absolute scrounger that she is.’

‘Read the room #ThisMorning- calling her a Welfare “Queen” is insensitive, even by the usual standards…’

‘Ffs. She wants sympathy because job centre won’t help her do a cv but she has had cosmetic surgery and owned a horse all whilst being on benefits. I’m now ready to give back she says ….. some people have no choice but to be on benefits but she did and does have a choice.’

‘Using people like this to talk about benefits just demonizes a lot of legitimate people. Bad choice.’

‘This is disrespectful to those of us who do work – but receive benefits due to low income, part-time jobs as well as full-time family caring commitments.’

‘They tarnish you with a brush you’re lazy… yes you are lazy!!! You’ve spent money, meant for your children, on a boob job and a horse. You are a disgrace.’

‘Absolutely gross!! Why don’t ye get a hold of tax dodging mofos like who’s stole MILLIONS but nahhhh go after the single woman!! Scumbags.’

‘Using people like this to talk about benefits just demonizes a lot of legitimate people. Bad choice.’

‘This interview is painful.’

Her interview comes as Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer yesterday announced a crackdown on benefits fraud in a bid to tackle ‘worklessness’.

She caused fury in 2018 after travelling to Turkey for a £1,500 boob job, going from a 34A cup to a 34D.

And the following year, she jetted off again for laser treatment to achieve a ‘designer vagina’.

She also bought a horse with her benefits, but said she later had to give him away as she couldn’t afford to keep him.

‘Being on benefits has never held me back from doing anything,’ Ms Buchan said according to The Sun. ‘I have had a lot of luxuries.’

‘I paid £600 upfront for the horse and then had to pay an additional £100 a month to keep him at the yard. Food was around £25 a month’, Ms Buchan, who lives in Selly Oak, Birmingham said.

‘It was a big mistake. I was rubbing it in people’s faces and I was showing off and I really regret that.’

She has insisted that she used money raised from car boot sales to pay for her plastic surgeries but says she understands now why people were outraged.

It is also likely that the items sold at the events were bought with money she claimed from the state.

Marie, who said she didn’t have a lot growing up, entered the benefits system when she had her first child at 19.

She said she was on and off benefits at the time as whenever she had a child she would stop work.

Marie said she eventually chose to stay on benefits to be able to dedicate herself to bringing up her children.

She explained that there is little incentive to work as her family is ‘better off on benefits’.

‘It’s very easy to sit in the system for the rest of your life,’ Ms Buchan said.

She previously hit the headlines after claiming she was being forced to use foodbanks to feed her children due to benefit cuts.
