Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, and Others Finally Break the Silence on Liam Payne’s Loss as One Direction Mourns Online

The sudden demise of former One Direction member, Liam Payne, at the ripe age of 31, sent shockwaves around the world. As the fandom that consisted more or less of the majority of the world grappled with the harsh reality, they sent out prayers and love to the family and former band members of the singer, who they believed would have it their hardest. What only days ago seemed an unthinkable tragedy has now manifested with all the cruelty of reality, as the surviving members of One Direction came forth with their online tributes.

A day after his tragic fall, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and members of Niall Horan’s family have paid tributes to their former band member, Liam Payne.

One Direction unites in grief following the death of Liam Payne

As the world spins a little slower following the death of Liam Payne, the real horror lies for those close to him who are left to survive, carrying the weight of a loss that no tweet or Instagram post can lighten. However, to offer a semblance of condolence in critical times, One Direction, for the first time since their hiatus, released a joint statement mourning the loss of Liam Payne. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say.” read the statement signed by Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles on Instagram.

The joint tribute was posted on One Direction’s Instagram page to which millions of fans around the world had their hearts attached to in hopes of a comeback. Apart from the joint statement, the members, with the exception of Niall Horan so far, whose concert Liam Payne had allegedly gone to attend in Buenos Aires, have released separate statements as well. 

Adding their own trickle of tears and tributes to that of the sea of celebrities that had already paid their tributes, the former One Direction members shade heartfelt odes to their brother of choice.

The joint statement shared by the former One Direction members reflected the shock and devastation that the members were grappling with while the separate tributes paid by the band members were an ode to their time spent with Liam Payne, which was reminiscent of that spent with a brother. While Harry Styles penned a statement on Instagram that started off with “I am truly devastated by Liam’s passing,” Louis Tomlinson wrote that he had “lost a brother.”

Zayn Malik went out to write the most weighted of all tributes, even referencing their quarrels which now seemed like nothing to him as he wrote, “I can’t help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives.” Although Horan is yet to speak, his brother, Greg Horan, posted a heartfelt note, as he called Liam Payne “A brother you are only one of 4 lads I was happy enough to take my place in Niall’s life.” As those touched by Liam Payne continue to live in the harsh reality which now does not consist of him, it only leaves fans to reverberate love and support.
