Abhishek Sharma roasts Haris Rauf & Afridi with social media post after Asia Cup

Abhishek Sharma redeemed himself with the bat after his poor fielding in the India vs Pakistan game.

Until September 20, Abhishek Sharma was just one of the many talented Indian players in cricket who loves playing attacking cricket. Now, after the India vs Pakistan clash in Dubai last night, the southpaw has become a household name in both the countries. He’s now being known as a tormentor after a dominating 74 off just 39 balls. He didn’t just clobber sixes but hammered them while speaking up against some sledging attempts by Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi.

Abhishek Sharma answers with bat and words

The tension was visible from the very first over. Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma walked out with intent, while Pakistan’s pace duo, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, chose to make it personal with their stares and words. Abhishek, far from backing down, fired the first salvo with a clean strike over the boundary and followed it up with a few choice words for Afridi.

Soon, both Indian openers were locked in verbal exchanges with the Pakistani quicks. The sight was a bit familiar for an India vs Pakistan game. However, considering that there hasn’t been any interaction between the team in this Asia Cup, a brawl was a bit unexpected.

But while Pakistan tried to rattle them, the Punjab pair only grew in confidence. Gill chipped in with 47 off 28 balls. By the end of the powerplay, the scorecard already read 69 without loss, leaving Pakistan searching for answers. The powerplay basically pushed the Men in Green out from the contest and it made the chase really easy for a strong Indian batting lineup.

Even as tempers flared, Abhishek stayed relentless. Every shot he played was a reply to the unnecessary stares of the Pakistan bowlers, particularly Haris Rauf, who ultimately took Abhishek’s catch but the match was competitively over by then.

“You talk, we win” – a dig that went viral

If the battle on the field wasn’t enough, Abhishek made sure to carry the momentum off it too. Hours after sealing the six-wicket win, he posted pictures from the match with a simple caption: “You talk, we win.” The timing was perfect for this clear and brutal message. Within minutes, the post went viral across platforms and rightfully so. It makes sense to do the talking if you win and dominate. Otherwise, it is just unnecessary blabbering.

In his post-match chat, Abhishek made it clear: “The way they were coming out to us without any reason, I did not like it at all. That’s why I went after them. I wanted to deliver for the team.” His words summed up India’s night in Dubai. Pakistan had started with fire, racing to 91/1 inside 10 overs, but ended with only 171 on the board as the Indian bowlers clawed back. In reply, India’s openers turned the chase into a spectacle.
