The documentary film Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry chronicles the meteoric rise of the young pop sensation, from the release of her debut single to selling out stadiums, while also shedding light on the challenges she faced along the way.

Now a global superstar at just 23, Billie Eilish released the documentary in 2021, offering a candid look at her journey to becoming a Grammy-winning artist. However, the film reveals that her path to success was far from smooth.

Throughout the documentary, Billie opens up about her struggles with mental health, her experiences with Tourette’s syndrome, and the intense pressure she and her producer brother Finneas faced.

The film provides a poignant glimpse into Billie’s life with Tourette’s, showcasing her ‘attacks’ and severe tics backstage and during photoshoots. One reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes praised the documentary, saying: “Seeing this very young and talented person struggle through so much breaks my heart.”

Another viewer added: “This is the most intense, realistic, and emotional artist documentary fathomable,” reports the Mirror US. The documentary delves into Billie’s personal diary entries, where she reflects on some of her darkest moments.

She bravely discusses her struggles with self-harm as a teenager, revealing that she would “lock herself in a bathroom” to make herself bleed because she “thought she deserved it.” Many fans were deeply affected by the sombre themes explored.

“Billie wrestles with deep, dark demons,” one review states. “Yet, with her brother’s and parents support, she manages to become an international superstar. It’s hard to imagine how anyone copes with it, but this film gives us a glimpse.”

For those out of the loop on Billie’s meteoric rise to stardom, ‘The World’s A Little Blurry’ is a treasure trove of insights. Charting her journey from early songwriting sessions with her brother to gearing up for her debut album launch, the documentary leaves no stone unturned.

Another poignant scene in the documentary captures Billie meeting her childhood hero, Justin Bieber, for the first time. The film delves into her past, showcasing her adoration for the pop icon and even capturing her emotional reaction to a text from Bieber.

“Seeing Justin Bieber comfort her, he knew the pain she was going through.”

One viewer reflected. “I never thought much of that guy, but I could see the understanding in his eyes as he hugged Billie as she sobbed. “It made me tear up. We take these beautiful and bright talents, crush them under the weight of admiration and attention until they turn to diamond or they get crushed.”

Echoing the sentiment, another fan shared: “It was great! And the segments of her with Justin really touched my heart. I know exactly how she felt when meeting him; I’ve experienced the same thing, and I started bawling, tapping into the magical feeling again.”

The film clocks in at 2 hours and 12 minutes, which one observer labels a “risky runtime.” Another critic writes: “None of this proves either immediately satisfying or cinematically impressive enough to justify the film’s extended 140-minute runtime.”

For those who are devoted fans of Billie or simply curious about the story behind the pop sensation, Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry can be streamed on both Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
