Burger King Drops a ’How to Train Your Dragon’ Menu

Go ahead, indulge your inner child: One of the country’s leading burger chains is diving into our wildest imaginations with a fiery new menu.

Burger King is looking ahead to the live-action How to Train Your Dragon this summer by introducing a brand-new menu, the chain announced today. The new lineup features a Dragon Flame-Grilled Whopper and a side of fire-hot mozzarella sticks.

Allow us to walk you through this entire feast: The menu centers around the core Dragon Flame-Grilled Whopper, which features the elements of the classic sandwich (with added bacon) all nestled between a marbled red-and-orange bun. The vibrant sandwich is tinted with natural vegetable dyes and spices, as the brand confirms.

On the side, guests can order a batch of Fiery Dragon Mozzarella Fries — ”melty” cheese sticks with peppers and a Calabrian chili breading. You might want to wash it all down with a Soaring Strawberry Lemonade (made with real fruit juice, as the brand notes), or pair it with a cookie crumble-topped Viking’s Chocolate Sundae for dessert.

You can snag the new menu items—together or separately—starting next Tuesday, May 27. It’s set to arrive ahead of the How to Train Your Dragon theater debut on June 13, which offers audiences a live-action take on the popular franchise.

“At BK, we love to bring partnerships to life that create an awesome experience for families. Our new collaboration with How to Train Your Dragon is going to be fun for both kids and kids at heart,” says Joel Yashinsky, chief marketing officer at Burger King, in the announcement. “Our team has created a delicious menu inspired by the beloved characters and themes of this exciting new movie that brings that experience to Burger King restaurants.”

Hype around the menu is already building online, so it seems. Food blogger Markie Devo dropped the details on Instagram earlier today.

Curious about the King Jr. Meal toys in this launch? Luckily, Burger King confirms that there are six new options for kids and collectors alike.

One of the new toys is a two-headed plastic dragon with movable wings, which resembles another two-headed creature from the film series. Another option is a short navy dragon, similar to the series’ Eruptor, that spews “lava” (in this case, a bright orange plastic piece). Parents, we recommend being careful with these underfoot — much like Legos, those wings can’t be comfortable to accidentally step on.

This isn’t the first time Burger King has boldly introduced colorful Whoppers. To celebrate the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in 2023, the chain dyed its signature burger a bright red and topped it with black sesame seeds. This unconventional tactic is typically reserved for its Halloween menus, but it seems we’ll be enjoying this treat all year long. Or at least for as long as this menu lasts.

Inevitably, someone will attempt to smuggle the new How to Train Your Dinosaur meal into the theater. In that case, we hope they’ll pass the mozzarella fries.
