If there is one fantasy genre that is unitedly and wildly embraced by fans worldwide, then it is vampires. The alluring myth and the mystery surrounding the blood-drinking vampires have been smartly converted into a trope of merciless killers carrying a golden heart, and fighting their natural urge to kill on the arrival of their significant other, who, in most cases, are humans. And the most successful movie franchise in this genre is the tale of teen romance, The Twilight Saga.

Ready to revisit the creatures’ love triangle nostalgia with The Twilight Saga

In 2008, Stephenie Meyer’s first novel on vampires, werewolves, and stuck in their middle, 17-year-old Isabella Swan, came to life on screen with Twilight and spread the vampire craze. All five movies went on to gross a revenue of $3.3 billion and gave the world the unending debate of Team Edward or Team Jacob. This year, the superhit franchise will be gracing the screen on May 1. 

The saga was last available to watch on Netflix five years ago, but it had to give them up due to expiring licensing agreements. That time it stayed on the platform for six months, perhaps due to a limited contract with the studio. In the meantime, it was available to watch on other streaming services like Amazon Prime and Hulu, but it returns at the very beginning of the next month on Netflix, making May extra hot.

Though what makes the series ultra-famous is its intriguing tale of romance between mortals and immortals, and a blossoming friendship between enemies by the end.

What happens in the five Twilight movies?

The teenage romance that started when newly arrived human Bella Swan, in the rainy town of Forks, crossed paths with the mysterious and smoldering vampire Edward Cullen, and sparks flew in Twilight. While in the whole movie, Cullen fights his natural urge to bite his beloved, it ends up in a massive heartbreak for both in New Moon when he goes away to protect her and leaves the local werewolf, Jacob, to Swan’s rescue. 

Eclipse saw their love triangle with Isabella Swan choosing Edward Cullen by the end, and their relationship takes a new turn when Swan and Cullen have a child, and our leading lady turns into a vampire in The Breaking Dawn. The lead roles portrayed by Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner in the sagas launched them into international stardom overnight, with significant and exciting Hollywood careers. Though it has been 13 years, The Twilight Saga continues to be the most famous movies of all time, widely loved by fans, which they can revisit again in May on Netflix.
