Police shot Jabbar dead during the shootout, as the man filming retreated from the scene along with panicked crowds.

Shamsud-Din Jabbar was part of a Muslim community in Houston with a history of hard-line Islamism, DailyMail.com can reveal.

The 42-year-old killed 14 and injured dozens more after declaring his support for ISIS and ramming a Ford pickup truck through New Orleans on New Year’s Day.

The FBI has probed Jabbar’s ties to ISIS and hunted for potential accomplices. One focus is his Muslim immigrant community in northern Houston, and nearby mosque Masjid Bilal, which is now swarming with police, agents and armored vehicles.

The mosque belongs to The Islamic Society of Greater Houston (ISGH), which runs 20 centers across Texas‘ biggest city. It officially promotes tolerance, but the group also has a troubling track record of extremist preaching.

This includes its former cleric Zoubir Bouchikhi, who has been deported from the US. Bouchikhi has called non-Muslims ‘worse than animals,’ and shared anti-Christian Saudi propaganda at his Houston mosques.

Since Jabbar’s attack, the mosque and ISGH have gone quiet. They did not answer DailyMail.com’s requests for comment, and have reportedly urged members to brush off requests for information from investigators and journalists.

That’s according to an ISGH memo shared on social media, calling on congregants to refer queries to the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), an advocacy group with ties to the ultra-conservative Muslim Brotherhood.

‘If anyone is contacted by the media, it is very important that you do not respond. If approached by the FBI and a response is necessary, please refer to CAIR and ISGH,’ says the note.

It is crucial that we stay united at this time as we condemn these terrible acts.’

Jabbar was killed in a shootout with officers after he exited his vehicle and started shooting, injuring two NOLA police officers who are in a stable condition.

An ISIS flag and weapons were found inside the vehicle. The FBI is assessing Jabbar’s ties to the violent armed Sunni group that was once a major force in Syria, Iraq, and elsewhere, but has since faded.

A security expert has said he believes that authorities in New Orleans may have got lackadaisical after handling larges in the past.

Clint Emerson, a retired Navy SEAL, told the New York Post that authorities might have been a victim of their own success.

He said: ‘There are so many events that happen outside of Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street [and] they’ve just been using the same old tactics, which have worked.

‘It’s like, “Well, we haven’t had an issue, so what do we need to improve?” I think they just got lackadaisical.’

He believes they should have pushed a perimeter around the celebrations, saying it should have been extended to one or two city blocks.

Over 300 cops and 60 state troopers had been downtown ahead of the celebrations.

Emerson added: ‘The bottom line is, unfortunately, when you talk about these lone-wolf, martyr-type deals where he knows he’s gonna’ die in the end — it’s difficult to stop that.’

Darrell Huckaby told NBC that he was in the city with friends and family for the Sugar Bowl when he witnessed the aftermath of the attack on Wednesday morning.

He said he had gone to sleep at his hotel prior to the attack and woke up the next morning to text messages asking if everyone was okay.

The 72-year-old said: ‘I wondered what in the world there was to be OK from. And then he looked out the window.

‘I could see seven bodies still laying in the in the street right outside my window. We were just heartsick.’

Huckaby is a former student of the University of Georgia and had arrived in the city to see his alumni team play Notre Dame.

He added: ‘Our plane was full of Notre Dame and Georgia fans that were very sad to have to be leaving the city without watching the football game,

‘New Orleans is a tough old broad. She’s been through a lot, and she’ll bounce back from this.

‘It’s more about the resilience of Americans, and I think both teams will be playing with a different mindset tonight.’

The mother of New Orleans attack victim Matthew Tenedorio has said she text her son to let her know when he arrived home as he celebrated the New Year.

Cathy and Lou Tenedorio never recieved that text, after their 25-year-old son was murdered during the attack.

Speaking with CNN, Cathy said she told him: ‘I love you. Happy New Year. Text me when you get home. Please don’t forget, we’re going to be worried about you.’

His father Lou told the outlet: ‘This morning the gravity of the situation really hit home and I just realized that I will never see my son again.

‘I just broke down, and honestly, my heart is broken. It’s just so hard for me right now to live with this.’

A coroner told the family that he died of a gunshot wound.

He had been employed as an audiovisual technician at the Superdome, with his employers releasing a statement on Thursday.

A joint statement from the NFL’s Saints and NBA’s Pelicans said: ‘We remain heartbroken by the tragic events that claimed innocent lives in our city yesterday morning.

‘Among those lost was Matthew Tenedorio, a valued member of the ASM New Orleans video production team.

‘Matthew was young, talented and had a bright future helping deliver quality content for both the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans.

‘Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the Tenedorio family and everyone affected by this senseless act of terrorism.

‘Together, as a city, state, and region, we will come back stronger from this tragedy.’

Born in New York, Tenedorio grew up in Slidell, Louisiana on the opposite side Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans with two brothers.

Retired bureau agents Scott Duffey and Chris Swecker told Fox News that the attack on Wednesday could emolden ISIS and other terrorist organizations.

Swecker told the outlet: ‘This is a time where ISIS is under extreme stress, and their existence is being threatened in Syria and elsewhere.

‘It would make sense for them to double down on their message to radicalize Americans to put them into action and activate any cells that they have in place.’

The suspect Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar seems to have been radicalized by the Islamic State.

He was found with their flag attached to a pickup he rammed into New Yearrevellers, killing 15 of them.

The driver of an 18-wheeler who told officers in South Carolina that he had a bomb inside his vehicle has been taken into custody.

Bomb members swept the vehicle and deemed it safe, with I-85 now being reopened after being shut for hours.

President Biden spent an hour inside the Situation Room with his top officials on Thursday, the outlet said, and recieved a detailed brief on their investigation.

Following that, Biden said: ‘Federal law enforcement and intelligence community are actively investigating any foreign or domestic contacts and connection that could possibly be relevant to the attack.’

Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar left his Houston mobile home in a state of disarray after telling neighbors he was leaving for a furnished apartment in New Orleans.

Alongside the abandoned cheap furniture, he left a Koran, prayer mats and a book on Islamic banking and finance.

That book, The Art of RF (Riba-Free) Islamic Banking and Finance purports to ‘take a modern American approach to incorporating Islamic financial principles into banking and investment techniques’.

Riba – charging interest on loans – is prohibited in Islamic finance as it is considered an unjust gain.

When DailyMail.com visited the home on the eastern edge of the Heritage Village section of the city early on Thursday, the front door was closed.

But when we returned later in the day it had been kicked off its hinges allowing the world to see in.

Jabbar, 42, plowed his pickup truck into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street in the early hours of New Year Day, killing 15 and injuring at least 35 others. He was shot dead in a gun battle with police.

He had been an open admirer of the Islamic terror group ISIS and had the group’s flag flying from his vehicle.

Other books inside the home included a seven-volume set known as the Islamic library, including a book titled ‘The Sealed Nectar’- a comprehensive biography of the Prophet Muhammad and several pamphlets on comparative religions.

Although the home was disheveled it was clean.

The home gives the impression that Jabbar left in a hurry. A suitcase and two prayer mats were thrown over a blue couch in the living area, along with a black belt.

The FBI have released images of 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar just one hour before he is said to have killed 14 people on Wednesday morning.

The bureau released two new images of him in a brown overcoat at 2:03 AM CST as he walked on Dauphine Street.

He is dressed in the coat, as well as a dark-colored button shirt, blue jeans and dress shoes.

They also released images of a cooler filled with IEDs that they say was placed by Jabbar near the intersection of Bourbon and Orleans Street.

In releasing the images they are asking the public for more information regarding the heinous act.

President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the suspect in the killing of 15 in New Orleans on Wednesday had a detonator on him at the time.

He told an audience at the White House: ‘The FBI briefed me that as of now, we have no information that anyone else was involved in the attack.

‘They’ve established that the attacker is the same person who planted the explosives in those ice coolers in two nearby locations in the French Quarter just a few hours before he rammed into the crowd with his vehicle.

‘They assessed he had a remote detonator in his vehicle to set off those two ice chests.’

A highway in South Carolina has been closed after an 18-wheeler driver told officers he had a bomb onboard.

Sources told 11Alive that the driver of the large vehicle told State Transport Police that he had the device onboard after being pulled over.

The ongoing incident is currently unfolding between exits 42 and 44 of Interstate 85 near White Horse Road in Greenville County.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed that their bomb squad was on the way to the scene.

New Orleans is still reeling from the devastating attack which took place on Bourbon Street early Wednesday morning, when driver Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, plowed a truck into a large crowd out celebrating the New Year.

The senseless act of violence claimed the lives of 15 and left 35 injured, before Jabbar was killed by police in a resulting shootout.

After the horrific events on Bourbon Street, the College Football Playoff quarterfinal between No 2 Georgia and No 7 Notre Dame, initially slated for 8:45pm ET on New Year’s Day at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, was pushed back to 4pm Thursday.

Livelsberger was snapped wearing the shirt while posing with his wife Sara. It later emerged he’d tried to recruit soldiers to fight Putin’s army in Ukraine.

The sleuths point out that Ryan Routh, who allegedly tried to kill Trump at his golf course in Florida last year, also showed support for Ukraine.

The body of decorated Green Beret Matthew Livelsberger, 37, was burned beyond recognition in the explosion and was identified through his tattoos, Sheriff Kevin McMahill said on Thursday.

Livelsberger had multiple tattoos, including one of a Three Crescent Moons design on one arm and an eagle and American flag on the other.

It is unclear what the inking of the overlapping moons represents and why the particular design was chosen by Livelsberger – with some online artists noting that it is similar to a common pagan symbol.

Police found credit cards, his passport and military ID on him, but they are still referring to him as a person of interest as they await DNA confirmation.

The Army veteran who blew up a Cybertruck packed with explosives outside Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel was a ‘big’ supporter of the president-elect, insiders have claimed.

A senior law enforcement official told the Daily Beast that Livelsberger’s loved ones were stunned by the news, and believed he was a registered Republican.

Officials said at a press conference on Thursday that they are still searching for a motive, with the suspected bomber’s uncle telling The Independent he was ‘100% a patriot.’

‘(Livelsberger was) like a Rambo-type, for lack of a better word,’ his uncle Dean Livelsberger said.

‘He used to have all patriotic stuff on Facebook, he was 100 percent loving the country,’ he continued.

‘He loved Trump, and he was always a very, very patriotic soldier, a patriotic American. It’s one of the reasons he was in Special Forces for so many years. It wasn’t just one tour of duty.

Livelsberger shared the below photo on a Trip advisor review on a gym in Thailand, which he claimed gave him an eye infection.

Las Vegas officials revealed at a press conference that suspected bomber Matthew Livelsberger’s body was found with a gunshot wound to the head following Wednesday’s Cybertruck explosion.

The Green Beret veteran was also found with two semi-automatic handguns in the vehicle, and mortar shells were among fireworks and fuel accelerant that caused the explosion.

Officials added that the semi-automatic handguns were traced back to Livelsberger, but they are still working to obtain DNA evidence as he was burned ‘beyond recognition.’

The Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, Louisiana paid a touching tribute to alumna Hubert Gauthreaux, 21, one of the victims identified in Wednesday’s terror attack.

‘It is with great sorrow that we share that alum Hubert Gauthreaux, Class of 2021, was tragically killed in the senseless act of violence that occurred early this morning in the French Quarter,’ the school said on Facebook.

‘We are asking the entire Archbishop Shaw family to pray for the repose of Hubert’s soul, his family and friends during this difficult time, and all those affected by this tragedy.’

New Orleans City Council member Helena N. Moreno told CNN she had been with Gauthreaux’s family when he was still missing, before he was tragically identified as one of the deceased.

‘I had been sitting with Hubert’s family earlier that day as they were hoping to get information that he had been found in one of the hospitals, and unfortunately, he was here,’ she said while standing at the Bourbon Street scene.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry touted New Orleans’ issued a defiant message at a Thursday press conference insisting the city was prepared and will remain open following Wednesday’s terror attack.

The lawmaker said he would attend Thursday’s Sugar Bowl game at the Superdome, which was postponed by a day due to the attack that killed 14 and injured dozens more.

‘Today, we’re going to have us a Sugar Bowl,’ he said. ‘We’re going to enjoy ourselves.

‘Louisiana invented hospitality. The people of this city care for each other. And believe you me, we care about each one of the lives that were lost in this city and that we will never forget them.

‘But it would ber a tragedy if we let their losses be snuffed out because of fear.’

The Governor had previously come under scrutiny after he shared a cheerful image of himself enjoying a steak dinner just hours after the attack, which he said was a testament to the ‘resilient city.’

The decision to postpone Wednesday’s Sugar Bowl to Thursday afternoon in the wake of a terrorist attack that killed 15 has left some Notre Dame and Georgia football fans surrendering their seats before a disappointing return flight home.

‘We can’t get new flights,’ said Lisa Borrelli, a 34-year-old Philadelphia resident who came to New Orleans with her fiancé, a 2011 Notre Dame graduate.

Postponing the game ‘was absolutely the right call,’ she said. ‘I completely understand.’

She said they paid more than $250 per ticket and hadn’t bothered listing them for resale yet because prices were so low: ‘Of course we’re disappointed to miss it and to lose so much money on it, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. We’re fortunate enough that we’ll be fine.’

Some seats on StubHub were as low as $11 after Wednesday’s tragedy as scores of fans unloaded tickets on the secondary market. Even the top seats were selling for $446 on StubHub.

Earlier Wednesday, field-level seats were going for as much as $1,700 on Ticketmaster before officials opted to postpone the game in the wake of the terror attack.

Bomb-sniffing dogs have been deployed by New Orleans authorities as the city cautiously proceeds with the Sugar Bowl in the aftermath of Wednesday’s terror attack.

Security teams are out in force to the Superdome, which is set to host the Georgia – Notre Dame matchup in front of huge crowds.

Dogs were seen sniffing vehicles entering the Superdome garage, as well as the personal belongings of anyone entering the stadium.

The Superdome was on lockdown for security sweeps on Wednesday morning, but the doors were scheduled to open at 1pm local time, with pre-game festivities beginning at 2:15 CST. Kickoff is scheduled for 3pm in New Orleans, 4pm EST.

New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick has promised ‘hundreds of officers’ will be lining the city streets prior to Thursday’s rescheduled Sugar Bowl.

‘We are staffing up at the same level, if not more so, than what we were preparing for the Super Bowl [in February],’ Kirkpatrick told NBC Today.

New Orleans officials said at a press conference Thursday that they found evidence of Shamsud-Din Jabbar planting two explosive devices at the scene that never went off.

Authorities said they found surveillance footage showing Jabbar planting the items before the attack. One was at the corner of Bourbon and Orleans Street and another was about two blocks away.

The revelation indicates that the tragic New Years terrorist attack that killed 14 people and injured dozens more could have been even worse.

Terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar was arrested for theft over two decades ago, according to court records obtained by TMZ.

The 42-year-old was taken into custody in November 2002 for a theft in the range of $50 to $500, however it is not clear what he stole.

He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, paid a $100 fine and was sentenced to nine months of community supervision, records showed.

The FBI has reportedly extracted just one of the three cell phones so far, as it was revealed that he rented the truck until January 4.

Jabbar was said to have posted five Facebook videos, and in one he reportedly explained why he became obsessed with ISIS ideology.

At a press conference on Thursday, New Orleans authorities said they now believe Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, acted alone.

Officials said they have received some 400 tips from the public related to the investigation.

Although agencies including the FBI raided several homes in multiple states and previously said they believe others were also ‘responsible’ for the attack, officials have now said they believe it was a lone wolf attack.

A suspect was taken into custody after Capitol Police raced to a ‘suspicious vehicle’ found outside the US Capitol on Thursday morning.

Capitol Police said on X that officers ‘spotted a car that had been driving along the sidewalk’ and into a grassy area.

The force urged locals to remain away from the area while the car is investigated.

Reports suggest a suspect was seen driving a vehicle erratically on the sidewalk, and the area remains shut down by authorities.

A suspect was quickly taken into custody, however authorities urged the public to remain away from the area as they investigate the vehicle.

Crisis negotiators were called to a chaotic scene in Las Vegas where a person had barricaded himself onto a bus just hours after a Cybertruck exploded outside Donald Trump’s Sin City hotel.

Police were on the scene near Fremont Street and Charleston Boulevard, along with SWAT teams and crisis negotiators. They have since taken the person into custody without incident.

Police have been praised for ‘working overtime’ today after earlier responding to the potential terror threat at Trump’s hotel which injured seven and killed one.

However, officials have not said early in their investigation that the hostage situation was linked to the bombing.

At least 16 victims who survived the New Year’s terror attack in New Orleans remain hospitalized.

Eight of those hospitalized are in the ICU with more serious injuries, while four patients have been transferred to other facilities for specialized care.

13 victims who were hospitalized in the tragedy have been discharged, according to a tweet from NewsNation correspondent Brian Entin.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry faced outrage on Wednesday evening after he posted a cheerful photo of himself enjoying a steak dinner just hours after the New Orleans terrorist attack.

Landry posted a photo of himself giving a thumbs-up with several people outside the Bon Tob Prime Rib steakhouse, which is just 10 minutes away from the site of the 3am terror attack on Bourbon Street.

He attempted to paint it as a defiant act in the face of the terror, captioning the post: ‘Ate dinner tonight in New Orleans. Proud to be a part of this incredibly resilient city. See everyone at the game tomorrow!’

But X users lambasted him for being tone-deaf in the wake of the tragedy, with one responding: ’15 people are dead in NOLA and you’re bragging about your steak dinner?’

LSU gymnast and social media influencer Olivia Dunne and her MLB star boyfriend Paul Skenes were on Bourbon Street the night of the New Years terror attack.

Dunne shared images from the night out alongside Skenes’ Pittsburgh teammate Bubba Chandler and his partner Allie Enright.

Dunne also posted a second image, which appeared to show a packed Bourbon Street hours before the deadly attack, along with a heartbroken emoji.

It is unclear when exactly the group were on Bourbon Street, though the large crowds – seemingly in fine spirits – would suggest it was prior to the attack.

Tesla Cybertruck bomber Matthew Livelsberger is a long-serving married soldier who was on leave from active duty when he carried out the attack outside Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel, it has been revealed.

Livelsberger, 37, was identified by law enforcement sources as the bomber who died in the Wednesday attack that also left seven wounded. The electric vehicle exploded about 15 seconds after the driver pulled up in front of the hotel’s valet.

The blast was caused by ‘a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck’ or ‘very large fireworks’, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

He lived in Colorado Springs and was an active member of the Army, and previously received a Meritorious Honor Award for work benefiting the US Embassy in Tajikistan.

Liveslberger was profiled by a local newspaper in Ohio for his work with the military in Afghanistan.

He grew up in Ohio and was married to social worker Sara Livelsberger, who in the lead up to the 2016 election shared a slew of Facebook posts spouting anti-Trump rhetoric.

According to CBS News, Liveslberger was on break from duty in Germany when he carried out the attack.

He lived with his wife, who hadn’t heard from him from several days, in Colorado Springs in a home they bought together in 2015, property records found.

However, police have linked Livelsberger to several addresses throughout the city – including a different townhouse that was raided by the FBI overnight.

Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to excoriate the security and justice establishment after Army veteran Matthew Livelsberger allegedly exploded the truck on Wednesday morning, killing one and injuring seven.

Trump wrote in a post: ‘Our Country is a disaster, a laughing stock all over the World! This is what happens when you have OPEN BORDERS, with weak, ineffective, and virtually nonexistent leadership.

‘The DOJ, FBI, and Democrat state and local prosecutors have not done their job. They are incompetent and corrupt, having spent all of their waking hours unlawfully attacking their political opponent, ME, rather than focusing on protecting Americans from the outside and inside violent SCUM that has infiltrated all aspects of our government, and our Nation itself.

‘Democrats should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen to our Country. The CIA must get involved, NOW, before it is too late. The USA is breaking down – A violent erosion of Safety, National Security, and Democracy is taking place all across our Nation.

‘Only strength and powerful leadership will stop it. See you on January 20th. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!’

The FBI said in a statement that it is carrying out raids on homes across multiple states as they probe whether New Orleans terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, acted alone.

Officials said hours after the attack that they believe Jabbar may not have been ‘solely responsible.’

It was revealed Thursday morning that the Army veteran who rammed a truck into a crowd of New Year’s revelers in New Orleans had gone though a contentious divorce and an economy crisis before turning to terror.

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, who was born and raised in Texas, had successfully climbed the corporate ladder after being dishonorably charged from the military, where he served as a human-resources and information-technology specialist and spent 11 months in Afghanistan.

He went on to study computer-information systems at Georgia State University, held a job at IT company Accenture and gave real estate a try before returning to Texas in 2018, starting a job as a cloud-consulting manager for Ernst & Young, an accounting company.

Jabbar then started work as a ‘senior solutions specialist at Deloitte from 2021 until at least the past fall. According to a pay stub shown in court, he made the equivalent of nearly $125,000 a year.

But Jabbar seemed to crack after his second divorce in 2020, when his then-wife of three years Shaneen Chanti got a restraining order against him.

‘Time is of the essence. I can not afford the house payment. It is past due in excess of $27,000 and in danger of foreclosure if we delay settling the divorce,’ Jabbar wrote in an email to his then-wife’s lawyer in 2022.

Jabbar claimed he was broke at the time, telling the court he had a net monthly income of about $7,500 but monthly expenses that were about $8,960.

He also said the real estate company he had formed had lost more than $28,000 in the previous year and that he had taken on $16,000 in credit card debt.

At some point over the last years Jabbar converted to Islam and became increasingly devout, per some reports.

Nicole Perez, 27, Matthew Tenedioro, Kareem Badawi, and Hubert Gauthreaux, 21, were later confirmed among the deceased by officials.

The man responsible for the Cybertruck explosion outside Trump International Hotel served at the same military base as the New Orleans terrorist, according to a new report.

Both terrorist Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, and bomber Matthew Livelsberger, 37, served at the same base, however it is not known if they knew each other.

Livelsberger served served 18 of his 19 years in the military’s Special Forces, while Jabbar said he spent a decade in the military before he was honorably discharged.

Matthew Livelsberger, 37, has been identified as the bomber who blew up a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Although officers have not publicly named Livelsberger, a veteran who served 19 years in the Army, as the bomber, senior law enforcement sources confirmed his identity to KOAA and KTNV.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Livelsberger served 18 of his 19 years in the military’s Special Forces. His current role was listed as a Remote and Autonomous Systems Manager, which he had been in for just three months.

Law enforcement sources revealed that Livelsberger, who died Wednesday in the explosion outside the hotel, had previously served at the same military base as New Orleans terrorist Shamsud Din Jabbar. Police have not confirmed if the pair were known to each other.
