Where are Baby P’s killers Steven Barker, Jason Owen and Tracey Connelly now?

The death of Baby P, who was tortured to death by his evil stepfather Steven Barker and Jason Owen in 2007, was a case that shocked the nation.

Peter’s short 17-month life ended with him being found dead in a blood-stained cot, having endured over 50 injuries including a broken back, and fractured ribs.

However it was not only the fact the tot suffered as his mother stood by that left the country rocked, but the countless opportunities missed to save his life.

Baby P had been on Haringey Council’s at risk-register, and had received 60 visits from social workers, police officers, and health professionals in an eight-month period.

As his twisted mother Tracey Connelly has been recalled to prison for breaching her licence conditions, MailOnline takes a look at where Baby P’s killers are now.

Tracey Connelly

Tracey Connelly, 42, was given an indefinite sentence with a minimum of five years in 2009 after covering up her 17-month-old son’s barbaric injuries and letting him die in her care at home in Tottenham, north London on August 3, 2007.

She was released from prison in 2013 after a judge concluded she was no longer a threat, according to The Sun.

However the twisted mother was later recalled to prison in 2015 after selling nude photos online.

She also used £14,000 of pubic money in a bid to recover custody of her three daughters whilst in prison.

On May, 5, 2022, she was then released from jail by the Parole Board, despite the Government’s opposition.

At the time, Justice Secretary Dominic Raab branded her actions as ‘pure evil’ and said the board ‘need[ed] a fundamental overhaul’ following the conclusion.

Now Connelly is on her way back to jail just over two years after last being released.

She was subject to 20 licence conditions, including having to wear an electronic tag and disclose all her relationships, having her Internet use monitored and obeying a curfew.

She was also banned from going to certain places to ‘avoid contact with victims and to protect children’.

A HM Prison and Probation Service spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Offenders released on licence are subject to strict conditions and we do not hesitate to recall them to prison if they break the rules.’

The Parole Board had said at the time of her release in 2022 that she had been cleared for release due to a low risk of reoffending and that probation officers and prison officials supported the plan.

As she is serving an indefinite sentence, it will be a matter for the Board to decide if she is ever released again.

MailOnline also revealed Connelly has been reinventing herself as a fat-fighting reality TV fan on a WeightWatchers forum, duping fellow slimmers who praised her weight loss journey without knowing her true identity.

The abusive mother had been posting as ‘Connie’ on the official WeightWatchers app for the last nine months, using the forum to make friends as she chartered her personal weight loss journey after ballooning to 20 stone – without ever revealing her dark past.

She posted numerous pictures of herself at the gym, reading birthday cards as she held aloft a bottles of Prosecco and enjoying fry-ups.

She also gave others an insight into her humdrum lifestyle, such as watching reality TV show Married At First Sight as well as the challenges of living with her cat, Odin.

Steven Barker began a romantic relationship with Connelly when Baby P was only two months old.

In the final weeks of the toddler’s life, Connelly had boasted on social media how she was ‘madly in love with the most amazing guy’, the court was told.

The evil stepfather, who tortured Baby P to death, was handed the longest sentence in relation to the crime out of the three offenders.

Barker was given a minimum prison sentence of 12 years, as well as a 10-year jail term for the rape of a girl aged two, according to The Sun

However, it was rumoured in March that the vile criminal would make a new attempt for parole  – only days after what would have been Baby P’s 18th birthday, The Mirror reports.

Sources said a fresh parole hearing could happen ‘within months’ according to the publication at the time.

It would be Barker’s fifth parole bid during his prison sentence. His last request for parole was denied after psychiatrists determined the criminal would not partake in mental treatment programmes.

One source told The Mirror: ‘Barker is hellbent on being released. He has had a string of hearings so far and will argue he has not caused problems in prison. But the thought of him being released is sickening.

Jason Owen

Barker’s older sibling, Jason Owen, had set up base in Connelly’s home with a teenage girl, 15, only weeks prior to Baby P’s death.

At the time of the tot’s death, Owen was in his late 30s. Both he and his brother had also been accused of assaulting their grandmother in the past.

However the elderly woman had passed away before the case had even reached court.

Owen was given a minimum prison sentence of three years in relation to the toddler’s death.

He was put behind bars in 2009, and was released around three years later in 2011.

However, he was jailed again for violating his parole in 2013.

According to The Sun, he was seen in between the separate times he was placed behind bars.

However he has seemingly been awarded a new identity to protect him from vigilantes, The Sun reports.

In 2015, the Mail previously found the baby killer had transformed into an online personal trainer – with no mention of his past on his YouTube videos.

He is no longer on licence and cannot be monitored by the authorities.
