Wi-Charge, one of the pioneers when it comes to wireless electricity announced it has partnered with E Ink to power the latter’s large-format Spectra 6 color e-paper displays. Wi-Charge provides the means to transmit electric charge wirelessly using infrared beams. With this, Wi-Charge makes it possible to power E Ink displays wirelessly thereby negating the need for the display to have a wired connection or have their own inherent power source in the form of batteries. The E Ink Spectra 6 displays thus powered are being called Wi-Poster and range from 13 inches to all the way up to 40 inches in size.

No wonder, Wi-Poster opens up new realms when it comes to the use of e-paper displays in the commercial arena. With Wi-Poster, you are no longer bound to be in the vicinity of the nearest power outlet to lay new wires for its installation. Rather, you can have the displays installed just about anywhere. You will be saved from an often costly and cumbersome installation process which might even include setting up new power lines as well if needed or replacing the batteries for battery-powered displays.

Things can become all the more cumbersome when you need the display to be relocated elsewhere. As already stated, you are at the mercy of the nearest mains outlet or the built-in battery with conventional E Ink signage. None of that sort with the Wi-Poster which provides you with unprecedented liberty so far as its placement is concerned. You can always focus on installing the display at the most optimum place which you believe will lead to the maximum impact. That includes even hard-to-reach places as the Wi-Charge system can deliver electric charge safely and securely via infrared light beams.

Apart from the ease of installation, the  WI-Poster requires little to no maintenance. With a layer of Gorilla Glass on top, they are durable and resistant to scratches or impacts. The displays can be one- or double-sided for maximum exposure. Being reflective in nature, they have a paper-like feel to them and have a wide 180-degree viewing angle. They require very little power for its operation and since no power is drawn as long as the display is static, they can be used to display a message for as long as you want. All of this makes the Wi-Poster relevant for a broad usage scenario, which range from retail, to financial institutions, and such.

“We are excited to extend the impact and reach of E Ink displays through Wi-Charge wireless power, enabling organizations to make frequent updates to their content without limitations,” said Ori Mor, co-founder and chief business officer, of Wi-Charge. “By removing the constraints of wires and batteries, Wi-Charge and E Ink are revolutionizing how businesses engage their audiences and easily deliver dynamic, timely messaging.”

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I’ll likely make a film sometime in the future.
