iFlytek has a new e-note device to offer in the form of the Smart Office Book Air 2 and Smart Office Book Air 2 Pro, ITHome reported. Both the devices are basically the same though the Pro version boasts of 4G cellular connectivity while the Air 2 is able to get online only via a Wi-Fi connection. Apart from this, the Air2 Pro comes with a bigger 64 GB storage while the Air2 makes do with 32 GB of storage.
Apart from the above differences, both the Air 2 and Air 2 Pro models come with the same 8.2-inch E Ink display having 1920 x 1440 pixels resolution. This translates to a pixel density of 293 PPI. The accompanying electromagnetic stylus offers 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and sticks to the body on the right via magnetic action. The pen is designed to allow for a very natural writing feel, something that replicates real pen and paper. iFlytek also stated their in-house developed OCR tech allows for quick recognition of handwritten texts and tables. The 5 MP camera can be handy for scanning documents.
The display is surrounded by relatively narrow bezels all around, something that allows for an 88.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. Also, a nice thing about the Air 2 series is its all-metal construction which makes the device extremely rigid and durable even though it measures just 5 mm in thickness. The e-note is also extremely light, weighing just 230 grams, and measures 193 x 137 x 5 mm. The lightweight build coupled with its compact dimensions makes the Air 2 series e-note very portable and easy to carry around.
A unique design element of the Air 2 series is the integration of the speaker along the top of the device. This apart, the device also comes with a four-microphone array that is strategically placed at the top and bottom. This ensures a more balanced and uniform spread when it comes to capturing the surrounding sound. This is handy when say you are in a meeting or during a presentation and you need to record the proceeding for future reference.
While the e-note is not only capable of capturing the sound, the advanced AI features it comes with enable it to convert it to text as well. Further, it can also easily summarize the meeting and create meeting minutes. In fact, the device can perform reading, transcription, and handwriting all at the same time.
The rest of the specs include 4 gigs of memory and 32 GB of storage for the Air 2 (for the Pro model, it stands at 64 GB). The device runs Android 11 and comes with a 2600 mAh battery. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi. There is also the USB Type-C port for wired data transfers as well as charging the device. It can recognize most e-book and document formats, including PDF, ePUB, TXT. MOBI, and so on.
Coming to its price and availability, the Air 2 costs 2799 yuan (USD 390) while the Air 2 Pro will set you back 3299 yuan (USD 460). Both models are right now available to pre-order via JD.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I’ll likely make a film sometime in the future.
