It isn’t just the Smart 5 Pro E Ink tablet that iReader has come up with; the company also offers the Ocean 4 series of e-reader devices. Specifically, two versions of the Ocean 4 devices have been launched – the Ocean 4 Turbo and the Ocean 4 long-lasting version.

Specifications standard to both versions include a 7-inch Carta 1200 e-paper display with 300 PPI pixel density. The display comes with i-Clean instant, precise technology, which allows for system-level residual image elimination. This ensures almost zero presence of residual images after the display has changed. iReader claims that 99.99 percent of residual images are eliminated in HD refresh mode in dark mode scenes. Also, glare is almost non-existent with the latest generation nano-etching technology, while 95 percent of the interference light is eliminated.

The new Ocean 4 series also comes with a custom GPU. Together, AI dynamic refresh technology allows the device to have a speedy system-level refresh rate of 30 frames per second at its highest speed setting. This makes the display extremely smooth while allowing for fast page turns. The integrated gravity sensor allows the device to change its display orientation depending on whether you hold it with your left or right hand.

Another highlight of the new Ocean 4 series of e-readers is their adherence to the ergonomic design 2.0 theme, which the company said makes them more user-friendly. iReader said the redesigned device has a center of gravity that is more towards the left grip (or right, depending on how it is held) than before. That is not all; the grip radius has been increased from 5mm to 7 mm, making a tighter fit in your palms. The e-reader otherwise measures just 4 mm at its thinnest point.

Coming to the underlying specs, the Ocean 4 Turbo features a quad-core 2.0 GHz processor that is coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM. The display gets the ComfortLight Pro feature, which has 30-level warm and cold temperature control settings. It runs SmartOS 2.2 and does not come with Google Play. However, it supports installing third-party apps in the form of APK files. Keeping the lights on is a 2000 mAh battery, which iReader said will support 49 hours of reading time or 20 days of standby time. It weighs 175 grams, which makes it relatively lightweight.

On the other hand, the Ocean 4 long-lasting version comes with a 2 GHz processor, one gig of RAM, and 64 gigs of storage. It comes with an 1800 mAh battery, which might be marginally less than its Turbo counterpart, but it supports almost double the standby and reading time. Specifically, it has a reading time of 84 hours and a standby time of 44 days. It also weighs 175 grams, slightly less than the Turbo version.

Coming to price, both the Ocean 4 Turbo and long-standing versions are available to order via Jing Dong, where they are priced at 1,599 yuan (219 USD) and 1,528 yuan (210 USD) respectively.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I’ll likely make a film sometime in the future.
