Deadpool & Wolverine’s arrival in theaters brought international attention not only to the superhero duo of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman but also to the one who took on the challenge of being their formidable opponent. When the gigantic mask of Ant-Man opened and Emma Corrin, portraying the notorious Cassandra Nova in this year’s flagship Marvel Cinematic Universe release, walked in, they immediately won over comic book fans, despite being the villain. While this was already surprising, Corrin revealed experiencing significant imposter syndrome while filming another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Netflix.
Fresh off the blockbuster release of Deadpool & Wolverine, Corrin admitted to struggling with intellectual self-doubt, even though they managed to hold their own against the MCU heroes.

By now, everyone who has watched Deadpool & Wolverine knows that the film is packed with star power. This credit goes not only to Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and the extensive list of cameos, but also to the addition of Emma Corrin to the ensemble. Corrin recently appeared on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, where Josh Horowitz asked if they ever experienced “imposter syndrome” while filming the iconic Netflix period piece, The Crown. To everyone’s surprise, Corrin admitted being a victim of “huge imposter syndrome.”
Corrin recalled being extremely nervous during their first few weeks on set, particularly struggling with a specific scene. The scene they found especially challenging involved Princess Diana sitting at the dinner table with their on-screen family in Balmore in Scotland and delivering a short monologue, which they could not get right because they found her co-stars a bit “intimidating.” Although they were supposed to come across as intimidating, Corrin admitted the syndrome caused them to fumble repeatedly until they eventually broke down in the set’s restroom.
Continuing their revelations, Corrin shared that they experienced similar feelings while acting alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine.

In their conversation with Josh Horowitz on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Emma Corrin discussed their ongoing struggle with imposter syndrome. They explained that while it can become more manageable over time, it never truly disappears. Even while filming the high-priority Deadpool & Wolverine, they experienced self-doubt acting alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who have portrayed their respective characters for years.
Corrin noted that much of their fear stemmed from the impressive talent of those they was working with. Horowitz pointed out that one positive aspect of imposter syndrome is that it indicates a person cares deeply about their work. Corrin agreed, acknowledging that their concern for their roles keeps them grounded. While Corrin expressed how they find joy in caring deeply about their work, it makes one curious about whether the fate of Cassandra Nova or The Crown’s Diana would have been different if they had not.
