Sanju Samson’s injury continues

Rajasthan Royals’ captain Sanju Samson is still dealing with an abdominal tear and won’t play in their next game against Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2025. Despite training with the team, he’s not fully fit and will miss another match. Samson has been one of RR’s top performers this season, scoring 224 runs in 7 matches with a highest score of 66. Fine on Rishabh Pant and LSG

Rishabh Pant, captain of Lucknow Super Giants, has been fined Rs 24 lakh by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for slow over-rate during a match against Mumbai Indians. This is his second offence of the season, with the first fine being Rs 12 lakh. To make matters worse, Pant’s team lost the match by 54 runs, and he scored only 4 runs. The BCCI has imposed stricter rules, fining captains instead of suspending them for slow over-rates. Other captains fined for the same offence include Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, Sanju Samson, Rajat Patidar, Riyan Parag, and Hardik Pandya. Read more here.

Mayank Yadav is back!

Mayank Yadav, the express pacer, returned to action after a 7-month layoff due to injuries. He had been sidelined since October 2024 with a lumbar stress injury and later suffered a toe injury during rehabilitation. After getting clearance to play, he was included in the Lucknow Super Giants’ team against the Mumbai Indians, with captain Rishabh Pant announcing his inclusion at the toss. Jasprit Bumrah breaks all-time record

Jasprit Bumrah has become Mumbai Indians’ highest wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League (IPL), surpassing Lasith Malinga’s record. Bumrah achieved the milestone during MI’s match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium. He dismissed Aiden Markram to reach the feat, and now stands second in the list for most wickets for a single franchise in IPL history, behind Sunil Narine’s 187 wickets for KKR. Bumrah is known for delivering under pressure and has recorded multiple five-wicket hauls for MI. The modern-day great took a handsome four-fer to win MI the match. Krunal Pandya stole the show with a match-winning knock, guiding Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a thrilling 6-wicket win over Delhi Capitals. Chasing 163, RCB were in trouble at 26/3, but Krunal and Virat Kohli formed a 119-run partnership. Krunal’s unbeaten 73 off 47 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes, was his first fifty in 9 years and second ever in the IPL. Kohli contributed 51 off 47 balls, and Tim David finished the game with a quickfire 19 off 5 balls. Trip midway in IPL 2025?

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) took a mid-season break, jetting off to the Maldives for a team retreat. The move came after a crucial win against CSK, their third of the season. With only 6 points from 9 matches, SRH sat 8th on the points table and faced a tough road ahead. To make the playoffs, they needed to win all 5 remaining games.
