The third round of SMAT matches will be played on November 30 in Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.

The second round of the matches in the 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) was action-packed. We saw games end on the last ball, a Super Over, a record-breaking hundred and much more.

Himmat Singh wins last-ball thriller for Delhi

Delhi has beaten Tamil Nadu in an absolute thriller of a match in Ahmedabad. Put into bat, TN scored 198, all thanks to their openers Amit Sathvik and Tushar Raheja. In reply, Delhi’s opener did something similar. Priyansh Arya and Yash Dhull were off to a flier, with Ayush Badoni also chipping in. In the end, two runs were needed off the last ball, and Himmat Singh hit a full toss outside off over the deep point boundary.

Sanju Samson still out-of-form

After scoring 51 (41)* against Odisha, Sanju Samson has played another scratchy knock. Chasing 150 against Railways at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, the Kerala captain played a rusty 19-run knock from 25 balls. Although all Kerala batters failed, it was Samson who played the most balls.

Ayush Mhatre breaks Rohit Sharma’s record

Ayush Mhatre scored an unbeaten 110-run knock from just 53 balls against Vidarbha. Chasing 193, the youngster single-handedly won the match for Mumbai. After getting to triple figures, Mhatre has become the youngest player to score hundreds in all formats of competitive cricket, beating Rohit Sharma’s record.

Maharashtra win without Ruturaj Gaikwad

After a low score against Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra’s stand-in captain Prithvi Shaw played an incredible 66-run knock against Hyderabad. Chasing 193, the opener set up the game with Arshin Kulkarni. Prithvi departed in the 13th over when the score was 117. But the stage was set, and Arshin, together with Rahul Tripathi, easily won with 6 balls to spare.

Haryana beat Punjab in a Super Over

Anshul Kamboj has provided Haryana with their first win of 2025-26 SMAT. The pacer got the wickets of Prabhsimran Singh and Abhishek Sharma in the powerplay as Punjab looked to chase 208. Anmolpreet Singh’s 37-ball 81 got Punjab back into the game, and the match went into the Super Over. Kamboj got the wickets of Abhishek and Sanvir Singh, dismissing Punjab for 1 run in 3 balls. Nishant Sindhu hit a boundary on the first ball to win Haryana the match.
