Arshdeep’s 10/10 display, SKY & Dube’s redemption guides Men in Blue in Super 8s

To get that ‘Q’ against their name, Team India steamrolled past co-hosts USA. However, which players stood out in this entertaining IND-USA clash?

India Player Ratings vs USA: And Team India finally becomes the latest team to qualify for the Super 8s of the T20 World Cup 2024. They surpassed the USA challenge and put on a strong show in what was the last game at Nassau Stadium. Arshdeep Singh served the win for India on the platter as he wreaked havoc with a four-fer, which restricted the USA to just 110. Although the pacers of the USA sent warming bells for India, it was a blessing in disguise for the Men in Blue as two players (Dube and Surya), who were out of runs, took India over the finishing lines.

India Player Ratings vs USA: Who scored 10/10?

Rohit Sharma (1.5/10): Rohit’s captaincy was great to see as usual. He even tried Shivam Dube with the ball but didn’t give a single over to Jadeja. However, Rohit looked quite slack with the bat before getting dismissed against his former schoolmate!

Virat Kohli (0/10): Virat Kohli’s horror show as an opener continued as the star batter was dismissed for a golden duck. It was once again a ‘Test match’ line and length that outfoxed him, where Kohli tried to poke one outside off but perished without troubling the scorers.

Rishabh Pant (7/10): It was another iffy innings by the southpaw. But, regardless, he added 18 runs up top and negotiated a tough initial period, where the ball seamed massively. Pant’s wicket-keeping skills were also up there, with him taking a great catch of Corey Anderson.

Suryakumar Yadav (9.5/10): A much-needed innings for Suryakumar Yadav, who not only hit a fifty, but remained unbeaten till the end to clinch the game for India.

Shivam Dube (8.5/10): Similar to SKY, Dube was in dire straits to get some runs under his belt as well. He made 31* off 35, including the winning shot as well. The only over he bowled saw him leak 11 runs, however.

Hardik Pandya (9/10): All points for his bowling of course! The T20 World Cup 2024 has been a refreshing chapter for Hardik Pandya as far as his all-round game is concerned. He was phenomenal at a helpful Nassau surface, taking 2/14 against USA.

Ravindra Jadeja (-/10): As mentioned earlier, Ravindra Jadeja didn’t get a single over to bowl and wasn’t required in batting as well. Jaddu wasn’t memorable on the field as well.

Axar Patel (7/10): Bowled as per plan and once again cramped up left-handers quite well. He was hit for six by Steven Taylor but then clean bowled him on the very next ball. His economy of 8.3, however, was average, to say the least.

Jasprit Bumrah (7/10): After his fantabulous heroics against Pakistan, Bumrah had an okay-ish day at the office. He was taken for 14 runs in one of his overs but was otherwise on par with disciplined lengths.

Arshdeep Singh (10/10): It was a dream match for Arshdeep, who became the first Indian to take a wicket off the first ball in a T20I. He continued haunting USA batters, and claimed another wicket in the very same over. Nothing could go wrong for the left-arm seamer who recorded the best bowling figures by an Indian in T20 World Cups.

Mohammed Siraj (7.5/10): Siraj went wicketless but had operated his lines and lengths decently. His economy of 6.2 was great. However, it was his fabulous catch at the boundary ropes that caught eyeballs.
