The ACSI has tracked Americans’ feelings about the companies they shop at since 1994, covering more than 400 brands across 40 industries. This year’s grocery report surveyed roughly 31,000 randomly selected shoppers throughout 2025 and asked them to rate their recent experiences at major chains on a scale from zero to 100.
Overall, many chains faced challenges compared with last year, with their ratings either staying the same or slipping, but the few that pulled ahead set themselves apart by getting the details right on every visit.

These supermarkets had the biggest changes in customer ratings
Save A Lot made the largest jump among grocery stores, rising 4% to 78. The chain spent much of 2025 reopening and updating locations, improving its app, and giving loyalty members more reasons to return.
Wegmans, on the other hand, moved in the opposite direction, dropping 6 points from 83 to 78, the steepest decline in the report. The chain added several new locations over the past year, and the growing pains were evident. Shoppers told the ACSI that the in-store experience at Wegmans felt less polished. Since weekly grocery shopping is a routine activity, customers are likely to remember any inconvenience they experience.
