Recently, Tom Cruise appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning, and talking about the underwater submarine scene, Cruise revealed that the US Navy helped him with the scene, who were also present on the show. Cruise flashed a hearty smile for them and gave them a respectful round of applause for all their help, saying, “Thank you all” to them. The actor went on to give a detailed description, sharing that they built one of the biggest water tanks in the world.

Shooting underwater was a very challenging task for Cruise due to the water pressure and the heavy lighting in his face, due to which he could not see. This kind of tough action sequence took years of development to come up with the final perfect result. However, this is not the first time that Cruise has done an exigent aqua scene for the series. For Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation, Cruise also performed an underwater stunt for which he held his breath for over six minutes and was shot in one take. However, his ties with the government services extend beyond the movies.
