Carlos Alcaraz has won his second successive Wimbledon men’s title after defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets in front of the Prince of Wales and her daughter Charlotte.
The 21-year-old Spaniard won 6-2 6-2 7-6 (7-4) to defend the crown he earned last year and claim his fourth Grand Slam title.
In a tense but thrilling third set tiebreak, Alcaraz managed to finish of 37-year-old with a devastating second serve to win the match, before jumping into the coaches box to celebrate with his family.
Having elected to receive, Alcaraz showed his intent from the off to break the Serb’s serve in a gruelling 14-minute opening game.
The 24-time Grand Slam winner had no answer to Alcaraz’s power as he broke again to take a commanding 4-1 lead at SW19 before seeing out the set 6-2 in front of a star-studded crowd that included Hollywood A-listers Julia Roberts and Tom Cruise.
And he repeated the feat again in the second set to break Djokovic’s serve two more times to take a commanding two set lead as he bids to become a back-to-back Wimbledon champion.
Seven-time Wimbledon champion Djokovic fought back in the third and saved three match points after being broken in the ninth game, which gave Alcaraz a 5-4 lead, and managed to take the set into a tiebreak.
But Alcarez went through the gears once more and claimed victory after Djokovic slammed the ball into the net off a devastating second serve.

A cute and confident Charlotte appeared to be enjoying her Wimbledon experience as she was spotted clapping and cheering the players on while in another touching moment her mother leaned in for a chat.Â
Princess Kate arrived at the tennis tournament in SW19 less than an hour before the final was due to begin on Sunday afternoon.
Serbian Djokovic is bidding to become the oldest Wimbledon champion at the age of 37 and with it extend his record-breaking Grand Slam tally to 25.Â
Alcaraz showed his intent early on during a gruelling 14 minute opening game to break Djokovic’s serve after the Serb had saved four break points.Â
He then followed that up with hold of serve to 15 in a rapid three minute game that included a venomous 136mph serve.Â
The Spaniard went on to break Djokovic’s serve for a second time before easing to win the first set 6-2 in 41 minutes.Â

And just as in the first set Alcaraz broke the Djokovic serve in the first game of the second set before repeating the feat again to take a 5-2 lead.Â
At one point during the opening set Charlotte could be seen covering her mouth as she chatted away to her aunt and Kate’s sister Pippa Matthews. Â
Kate has been undergoing chemotherapy and made her first public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March at the Trooping the Colour ceremony in London last month.
She did not attend the women’s singles final on Saturday, and Wimbledon chairwoman Debbie Jevans presented the trophy to Barbora Krejcikova on her behalf.

Sir Andy was due to play mixed doubles with Emma Raducanu but the former US Open champion pulled out of the clash, citing stiffness in her right wrist.
Kate visited the championships several times last year and presented Alcaraz with his first Wimbledon trophy after watching him battle Djokovic in the men’s singles final.
