Carnival Cruise voyage to the Caribbean descends into chaos as furious passengers are told of last-minute itinerary change – after they’d boarded

A Carnival Cruise trip descended into chaos before it even left the port, as furious passengers demand a refund when they were told that their dream vacation required a last-minute itinerary change.

Video footage captured the moment passengers chanted, ‘Give us our money!’ after finding out their Caribbean cruise was changed to a Bahamas trip due to engine trouble.

The Carnival Vista voyage, which costs nearly $800, was set to embark on an eight-night Southern Caribbean cruise leaving from Port Canaveral, Florida on August 10.

Passengers who had anticipated stops in Aruba, Curacao, and Turks and Caicos were instead told they’d be visiting Nassau, Princess Cays, Freeport, and Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.

The announcement came as some guests were still in the process of boarding, the New York Post reported, leading to testy exchanges as passengers demanded refunds and pleaded to get off the ship.

‘We apologize for this unanticipated disruption to your vacation plans and are disappointed that we will not be able to deliver the cruise we had planned,’ Carnival said in a statement to Inside Edition, noting that its engineers were working on an issue affecting the ship’s cruising speed.

In video that circulated on social media, frustrated passengers can be heard shouting at ship staff as officials break the news.

Ashley Ball, who was on the cruise with her mother and sister, told Inside Edition: ‘They knew about the problem prior to us getting onto the ship.

‘They just didn’t say that until we were already on the ship, and, you know, went through customs and the lines and securities and all that.’

Carnival offered passengers an onboard voucher and future cruise credit to accept the revised route, or a full refund if they decided to disembark.

The announcement came as some guests were still in the process of boarding, leading to scenes of chaos as passengers demanded refunds and pleaded to disembark.

Earlier this week, it was announced that a woman who was raped after being forced into a closet on a Caribbean cruise has been awarded an extra $2million after Carnival appealed a $10 million verdict in her favor.

The woman, from Washington D.C. will now get more than $12 million for her ordeal at the hands of a Carnival employee.

Her attacker, Fredy Anggara, has never been arrested for the assault, which took place on December 2, 2018.
