EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Prince Harry will be on his best behaviour during his visit to Bogotá – despite being familiar with the Colombian capital’s most infamous export

Prince Harry will doubtless be on his best behaviour during his visit to Bogotá with Meghan over the coming days – despite being familiar with the Colombian capital’s most infamous export.

Admitting to past cocaine use in his memoir, Harry explained he first tried the drug at a friend’s country house when a teenager.

‘I’d been offered a line and I’d done a few more since,’ he wrote.

Harry clarified the Colombian marching powder didn’t make him feel particularly happy, but did make him feel ‘different’.

Lots not to talk about in downtown Bogota tonight.

Even a refurb can get political

With more than 330 new MPs experiencing the dodgy wiring and crumbling masonry of the Palace of Westminster, will incoming culture minister Chris Bryant manage to find the multi-billion cost of refurbishment?

Bryant, a keen advocate for restoration, has watched helplessly as MPs persistently kicked rebuilding options into the long grass.

Relocating parliamentarians to an alternative home would be quicker and cheaper.

Working with them in situ could take up to 76 years and cost upwards of £22billion.

MPs are scheduled to get a vote next year – if the building hasn’t collapsed before then.

Saoirse shares the limelight

Being romantically linked with Slow Horses heartthrob Jack Lowden is not all cake and roses for Atonement star Saoirse Ronan.

‘When I’m with Jack and I think someone’s recognised me I’m like, ‘I’m just not in the mood,’ she tells Total Film.

‘Then they come over – and they’re like, ‘Jack – I love you!’

‘They’re oblivious to who I am and ask if I’ll take their photo with Jack. I’m like, ‘Sure – yeah.’

Royal appointment goes under the radar

Without any fanfare the King has resurrected the post of Surveyor of the King’s Pictures appointing deputy head Anna Reynolds.

Why didn’t the Palace PR machine go into overdrive heralding the appointment of the first woman to succeed the likes of Kenneth Clark, and, er, Anthony Blunt?

The King was finally persuaded to act after accepting that having a Deputy Surveyor but no actual Surveyor was a nonsense.

The post was unadvertised and didn’t even get a mention in the Royal Collection’s annual report. Deep waters.

Emily’s (not quite) breaking news

Emily Maitlis excitedly enthuses: ‘It’s Here’ at the release of the first stills of Ruth Wilson portraying her in Amazon’s upcoming Prince Andrew drama.

But has executive producer Emily already missed the boat? She was embarrassingly beaten to the punch by her former Newsnight producer Sam McAlister, whose rival Netflix movie Scoop, has been and gone five months before her production airs.

Maitlis ‘declined’ to advise Gillian Anderson after she was cast to play her in McAlister’s version. Miaow!

Gyles is like a dog with a bone over kissing

Gyles Brandreth pontificates on Nicola Peltz Beckham kissing her chihuahua Nala.

‘I’m not with her on this,’ barks Gyles. ‘You can let your dog lick you, but you shouldn’t go kissing your dogs on the lips.

‘Cuddles, yes. Doggie lip-kissing, no.’

‘Someone give Beagle Brandreth a Winalot biscuit and put him back in his kennel!
