Olympic Village food vendor breaks silence after swimming star claimed ‘worms’ were found

The company in charge of feeding thousands of athletes at the Paris Olympic Village has spoken out against claims that wormy fish was served, denying all allegations of sub-par standards.

Earlier in August, Team GB swimmer Adam Peaty criticized the food selection and the quality of goods offered by French catering company ‘Sodexo Live!’, revealing that he knew of fellow athletes who claimed that they found ‘worms in the fish.’

But no photographic evidence was ever shared to support Peaty’s claim.

Now, a committee representing ‘Sodexo Live!’ has rejected any dispute questioning the cafeteria food served to athletes and its potential hazard to their health.

‘There has been zero proof of the truthfulness of this statement, which obviously raises a rather serious allegation,’ the committee told TMZ Sports.

‘There is no information that’s been able to provide validity to this sensationalist claim.’

The company also clarified that it never received any complaints from Team GB athletes.

‘The 550 dishes on offer in the Dining Hall were developed together with the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and the IOC over a period of more than a year,’ the Olympic Commitee told TMZ Sports, weighing in on the controversy.

‘We always listen to the athletes and take their feedback very seriously. Paris 2024 continues to liaise closely with nutritionists of the National Olympic Committees and is ready to make any further adjustments needed to the food service.’

Sodexo Live! was chosen as the official catering partner of the 2024 Olympics in March 2022.

According to the company, roughly 40,000 meals are made a day for the 15,000 athletes competing in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

Snacks and other foods are also provided to fans at competition sites.

Meanwhile, Paris 2024 organizers also faced backlash for its cleanse of the River Seine ahead of the mixed triathlon at the Olympics.

Belgian star triathlete Jolien Vermeylen revealed that she ‘saw things’ that she ‘didn’t want to think about’ while competing in the women’s triathlon last week.

Italian swimmer and gold medalist Thomas Ceceron was also caught sleeping in a park in Paris after complaining about the lack of air conditioning and quiet at the Olympics Village amid reports of crammed common bathrooms and ‘back-breaking’ beds.
