Pole vaulter Armand Duplantis has fans swooning as he puts on a show for Paris crowds and smashes a world record – but the hunky athlete is loved-up with his model girlfriend

In another sensational moment at the Paris Olympics games on Monday night, Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis made history with a record breaking leap that had spectators saying he could ‘fly’.

The incredible moment has not only wowed sports fans, but left many drooling over the 24-year old American Swedish pole vaulter – referred to as ‘Mondo’ – after he cleared 6.25m without breaking a sweat in Paris on Monday,

The pole vaulter retained his Olympic title by breaking his own world record – before breaking his steel concentration to celebrate the new record with his friends, family, and girlfriend, who cheered with joy.

The hunky Olympian has become the latest in the games list of hot heartthrobs, with fans admiring his incredible wash board abs, luscious brunette locks and eye-catching smile.

The strapping 24-year-old also boasts a height of 5’11 and has been compared to a number of handsome celebrities following his spectacular win in Paris.

At the games on Monday night, Armand saw off silver medalist Sam Kendricks of the USA as well as Greece‘s Emmanouil Karalis – who took bronze – before clearing 6.10m at the first attempt.

The heartthrob recently made his own world record in April, setting the title at 6.24m after he beat his predecessor, Thiago Braz’s Olympic record of 6.03m from Rio 2016.

A deafening atmosphere erupted from crowds watching the vaulting last night with as the stands were brimming with 80,000 people, with every other event at the games having finished earlier.

The Louisiana-born Swedish-American cleared the 6.25m pole at the third and final attempt, before immediately rushing to his feet to sprint into the arms of his Swedish model girlfriend, Desire Inglander, 23.

The two threw their arms around each other to embrace in a celebratory hug and movie worthy snog.

Armand was so fired up while hugging one of his countrymen that the pair began shoving and even punching each other in the chest. 

The record breaker then proved a full patriotic spirit by wearing the Swedish flag around his shoulders.

Armand pictured celebrating one of his many sporting achievements from his lustrous career. Speaking after his Olympic win in Paris on Monday, Armand said it felt like ‘an out of body experience’ 

The quirky Swede then celebrated the win by mimicking Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec, whose nonchalant style has made him an internet sensation.

Speaking after the record breaking moment, Armand said: ‘I haven’t processed how fantastic that moment was.

‘It´s one of those things that doesn’t really feel real, such an out of body experience.

He added: ‘The biggest dream since I was a kid was to break the world record at the Olympics.

‘And I’ve been able to do that in front of the most ridiculous crowd I´ve ever competed in front of.

‘I felt really prepared. I’ve never been so locked in my life than in these past three months. Now I´m just ready to eat a bunch of food. The party is going to be pretty big.’

Since the incredible win for Sweden, the 24-year-old hunk has sparked a flurry of interest online with several swooning for the handsome looking Olympian.

However, swooners will be disappointed by the fact that the athlete is in a long term relationship with Desire Inglander, a 23-year-old model and influencer who is also from Sweden, where Armand’s mother is originally from. 

The model – who boasts 300K followers on Instagram and 399.5K on TikTok – has dated her Olympian boyfriend for over three years, with the couple sharing an anniversary post in February of this year. 

The love-up pair reportedly met in 2020 at a Midsummer party in Sweden in 2020, during the festival that celebrates the longest day of the year, where the sun never sets in the country. 

The two then hit it off, amid a few hiccups regarding language barriers and cultural difference – with Armand having grown up in the US and Desire, Sweden. 

Speaking in an interview to Sportbladet, Armand described the beginning of the couple’s romance.

‘She probably did not think I had good intentions at the start. I had to prove over time that I was a respectable young man, ha! And that I would treat her with respect. It won her over, I think,’ he admitted cheekily.

The two now appear very much in love, with both of them regularly posting sweet affectionate pictures on their respective social media posts.

One user joked: ‘Men’s pole vaulting champion Armand Duplantis is actually what happens if you were to leave Timothee Chalamet in Stockholm for too long.’

Another user posted on X making a humorous reference to the hit TV show, The Bear, starring Jeremy Allen White, that sees a chef with a troubled past build his family’s restaurant into a best selling business.

In tongue in cheek commenter wrote: ‘What’s most impressive about Mondo Duplantis is how he turned his family’s humble Chicago sandwich place into a fine dining restaurant,’ next to a picture of the record breaker. 

 The hunk was also compared to Connor Dewar, Canadian ice hockey player, and the famously swooned after, Timothée Chalamet, who is a French-American actor and the current boyfriend of Kylie Jenner.

The win has not only sparked a new set of lusting onlookers for Armand, but will make him the first man to retain the Olympic pole vault title since Bob Richards in 1956.

The pole vault star has now added a second Olympic crown to his long list of achievements, which already included two world championship golds and three European titles. 

The youngster’s journey into vaulting has been long and deserved, with Armand having started it as a child in his family’s backyard after being inspired by his father, Greg, who also had a background in the sport.

Armand’s father, who is American, previously held a pole vaulting of 5.80m after his own career earlier in life.

Meanwhile, his Swedish mother, Helena, is a former hepthathlete and volleyball player.

Armand comes from a whole family of athletes with his older brother, Andreas, having represented Sweden as a pole vaulter at the 2009 World Youth Championships and at the same event in 2012.

By the age of 17, the Olympian had already surpassed his father’s personal best, and finally made a breakthrough shortly after when he won the European outdoor title in Berlin with a world junior record vault of 6.05 meters. 

Armand is is one of only eleven athletes to win world championships at the youth, junior, and senior level of an athletic event.
