Prince George adorably mirrors his father William’s animated gestures at the Euros

Prince George was the mirror image of his father as he put on an animated display at the Euros final last night.

The young royal, who attended the nail-biting match with the Prince of Wales, 42, was twinning with his dad as he witnessed Spain‘s 2-1 victory in Berlin.

Both had their hands on their face at the same time, and were pictured wincing as they witnessed England’s defeat.

Elsewhere, the duo were even seen adjusting their ties – as they sported matching outfits – at the exact same time.

And it’s not the first instance where the pair were spotted channelling one another, with the ten-year-old often seemingly looking to William for guidance on social cues over the years.

Images show how the father and son have donned identical expressions or modelled the same gestures while at an event.

In one instance from just last month, George was the spitting image of his father as both of them inquisitively glanced up to enjoy the flypast at Trooping of the Colour.

They joined the Princess of Wales, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, to take in action from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Elsewhere last year, the father and son duo enjoyed the Ashes and were twinning as they sipped on their drinks in synch.

In other instances, the duo have sported equally devastated looks while at other football matches – including a tense Nottingham Forest EPL match against William’s favourite team, Aston Villa, last year.

George’s habit of mirroring his father goes back to when he was just a baby, as the young toddler can be seen pointing and waving in synch with his dad in old throwback photos. 

And it’s not just their mannerisms. The royal football fans at the Euros final on Sunday also looked smart in matching navy suits, white shirts, and striped ties as they watched the action unfold between the two rivals. 

Despite the loss for England, William and George’s twinning act helped lift the spirits of a dejected nation, with the young royal wearing a near-identical outfit to the Prince of Wales.

William and George watched the FA Cup final match live from Wembley Stadium in North West London with 90,000 fans in May, both standing in the same pose with their hands clasped in front of them

It’s also not the first time George’s wardrobe has been modelled on his father’s, with the the ten-year-old mirroring his father’s looks since he was a young boy. 

Yesterday, the 10-year-old swept his locks to one side, opting for a crisp white shirt with a navy suit jacket, trousers, and a striped tie. 

In 2015, a bashful Prince George arrived at Princess Charlotte’s christening in an almost identical outfit to one Prince William wore to meet his newborn brother, Prince Harry, for the first time more than 30 years prior.

George almost stole the show at his sister’s christening and looked adorable in a white shirt and red shorts.

Although the Prince of Wales’s white shirt had slightly more embroidery, in every other respect, George’s outfit, designed by Rachel Riley, was identical to William’s.

The young royal has also continued to look to his father’s fashion style for outfits later in life. 

Stepping off a plane hand-in-hand with Prince William in Warsaw in 2017, Prince George’s style bore an uncanny resemblance to his father’s as a youngster.

The little Prince, who kept close to his father as he made his way down the plane’s stairs at Warsaw Chopin Airport in July that year, was in his trademark navy shorts, teamed with a checked shirt.

The look was not a far cry from an outfit his father wore as he disembarked a private plane at Aberdeen Airport for a family summer holiday in 1984 when the Duke of Cambridge was the same age as George now.

In June 2022, Prince George was the double of his father in a smart navy suit with matching brown shoes as he joined his parents for his first official engagement in Cardiff.

Then eight-years-old, George met performers and crew involved in a special Platinum Jubilee Celebration Concert taking place within the grounds of the castle.

Prince George was certainly dressed for the part, wearing an identical outfit to his father, Prince William.

And last year, royal fans were quick to notice the resemblance between Prince George and his father as a brand new photograph was shared to mark his 10th birthday.

As per tradition, the image was shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales on July 22 – and their eldest child looked more grown up than ever before.

George was dressed in a check shirt – thought to be part of his school uniform – paired with chinos and brown lace-up brown suede brogues that William also favours as a smart/casual look.

George continued the tradition of taking fashion inspiration from his father in May during the FA Cup final. 

The royal football fans looked smart in matching navy suits, white shirts and striped ties as they watched the dramatic clash in a packed Wembley Stadium. 

The father and son enjoyed the match alongside tens of thousands of fans from the Royal Box, and 10-year-old George looked animated as he experienced the highs and lows of the cup final.

Before kick-off, the Prince of Wales walked onto the pitch to cheers from the crowd where the two teams were lined up.

Prince George could be seen on his feet and cheering in the stands as he celebrated the scores among elated fans.

Sitting alongside them in the box, Manchester United bosses Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Avram Glazer could be seen cheering wildly alongside legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 41-year-old’s attendance at the showpiece game in North West London in front of 90,000 fans was confirmed by palace officials at 9.30am on the day.

Prince George and Prince William experienced a full range of emotions as they watched England play Spain last night.

After Spain scored their first goal in the match, Prince George looked visibly disappointed as he took a seat next to his father. 

William and George then jumped up out of their seats and shouted in celebration alongside Keir Starmer when Cole Palmer scored for England.

Following their celebration, Prince William turned to hug Prince George, who appeared overwhelmed with joy.

However, William and George’s joy was short-lived as Spain scored again just minutes later – thereby securing the Euros 2024 victory.

The father and son appeared visibly heartbroken as they stared out at the pitch with their heads in their hands.

Posting from the official Kensington Palace account just seconds after the final whistle, he commiserated with the team after watching them closely miss out on victory.

William wrote: ‘This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We’re all still so proud of you. Onwards @England. W.’
