Ruturaj Gaikwad shines

Ruturaj Gaikwad didn’t have a great IPL 2026. However, when it comes to 50-over cricket, there are hardly many batters as consistent as him. With not many middle-order bats in the side, Gaikwad instantly got a chance in the series opener. He scored 101 runs off 114 deliveries, striking 6 fours and 3 sixes in the game against Sri Lanka A. Gaikwad joined the likes of Rahul Dravid and Gautam Gambhir in the list for most List-A centuries among Indians. Read more here.

Sooryavanshi fails on India A debut

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi managed to score just 14 runs off 12 balls on his India A debut. Despite amassing over 700 runs in IPL 2026, and emerging as the winner of the Orange Cap, the 15-year-old failed to do well in the first game of the tri-series. Vaibhav, who has witnessed a meteoric rise over the last couple of years, emerged as the Orange Cap winner 776 runs in IPL 2026. He also surpassed Chris Gaye’s record for scoring the most sixes in an IPL season. He played a key role in India’s triumph in the U19 World Cup, having slammed a century in the final. Read more here.

Siraj rested

Although Mohammed Siraj is known as a workhorse in Indian cricket, even he deserves some rest. He will never back down from any challenge, but the pace machine needs to be managed carefully and that’s what the BCCI is doing now. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has allowed him some respite after a fatiguing IPL season. Siraj, who was initially part of India’s T20I squad for the seven-T20I UK tour, has been replaced by Prasidh Krishna due to a workload management call. Read more here.
