Taylor Swift’s ‘folklore’ which featured indie-folk luminaries Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon paid off, yielding a critically acclaimed album. Following its big debut, it dominated the Billboard 200 albums chart, holding the top spot for six uninterrupted weeks. This streak marked the longest reign since Drake’s ‘Views’ in 2016. The album continues to break records to this date, her latest win having come around August. It seemed as if Swift’s pivot to indie-folk was a wise move, as fans ate it up like a Taylor-made cookie.

Swift continued her alternative folk exploration with ‘evermore’, a sister album to ‘Folklore’. Partnering with The National, HAIM, and Bon Iver, Swift expanded her whimsical sound. ‘evermore’ rose to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart by December 26. The album’s folk-infused storytelling delved into relationship struggles, thrilling her fandom full of youngster who more of less share the same sob story.
