Onyx Boox is announcing the upcoming 4.0 update for the Go 10.3, Go Color 7, Note Air3 C, and Note Air3. The NeoReader, Notes, and e-book library have been significantly upgraded. The company has just issued the Release Candidate version, which looks very polished.

Here is everything new found in the latest firmware

System

  1. Improved overall system UI interfaces, stay minimal and more unified.
  2. Improved operation feedback prompts make the screen-touching experience more intuitive and accurate.
  3. Added an option to turn full refresh on/off when back to the home screen.

Library & NeoReader

  1. Added the ability to customize the top function bar in the Library. You can select and re-order those functions in [Library Settings > Library List Settings].
  2. Added the Library View switch button in the lower right corner of the Library; you can switch between the View modes with just one click.
  3. Added Customizable Reading Themes, easily customize your reading themes by adjusting font, margin, spacing, and background color. Apply your favorite theme to any reflowable document with just one tap, saving time on repetitive setup.
  4. Added a more intuitive reading progress percentage badge on the document cover. Removed the document reading progress bar.
  5. Support independent settings for titles, body text fonts, and supplementary fonts of reflowable documents.
  6. Optimized OCR function: OCR now works in the background while you read PDFs; you can continue turning pages, annotating, and highlighting seamlessly without any wait.
  7. Optimized word lookup experience, you can prioritize Word Lookup or Translation.
  8. Optimized the display of traditional/Japanese symbols.
  9. Adjusted the [Refresh] entry of Neoreader to the first-level bottom menu for easier refresh mode customization.
  10. Adjusted the Google Drive-related permissions.

Notes

  1. Improved the Notebook creation experience. You can import PDF, CAJ, EPUB, MOBI, JPEG, JPG, PNG, and TXT from local storage to create a notebook, and all the index hyperlinks will be kept and interactive.
  2. Improved the Add Page experience.
  3. Improved the Marker display. The layering is optimized for clearer contrast when using the marker to highlight.
  4. Optimized the [Canvas] function to the [Margin] function, which now lets you resize your canvas by just dragging the margins.
  5. Optimized the width of the Stroke Eraser.
  6. Added the Notebook View switch button in the lower right corner of the Notes app; you can switch between the View modes with just one click.
  7. Added 18 new shapes, such as parallelograms and pyramids. And the shapes are now adjustable.
  8. Added Outline function to help clarify the structure of extensive notes and enable faster navigation across pages. – Supporting 5-level outline (long pressing the page’s blank space or adding from notebook thumbnails).
  9. Adjusted the notebook page limit from 500 pages to unlimited. Please note that more pages could cause slower rendering when opening the notebook.
