A four-metre high Oreo cookie sculpture has appeared in London to mark the brand’s partnership with the upcoming A Minecraft Movie – and the treat has also been given a makeover
OREO made a bold statement in London with a striking installation: a giant square cookie towering over the city at Observation Point on the River Thames. Created to celebrate the brand’s partnership with the upcoming A Minecraft Movie, the four-metre by four-metre cookie sculpture marked a playful nod to the iconic square-shaped world of Minecraft.
The final piece of the large-scale cookie was carefully lifted into place with the help of a 20,000-pound telehandler, completing the impressive black-and-white replica. Alongside this towering creation, OREO unveiled ultra-rare square-shaped cookies for eager visitors, a first-ever departure from the brand’s classic round design.
Fans of the treat lined up to snag these limited-edition snacks, which feature four corners and a special embossed design inspired by Minecraft.
Becky Latcham from OREO UK shared her enthusiasm about the collaboration: “This is our most playful partnership yet, so we knew we had to go big—both literally and creatively—to celebrate it. We’re thrilled for fans to experience our square cookie prototype as well as our special-edition A Minecraft Movie cookies.”
The installation offered more than just photo opportunities. Visitors could scan the sculpture to unlock an augmented reality (AR) experience, inviting them to explore digital content inspired by the movie.
This interactive feature allowed participants to hunt for hidden elements from the film that could lead to exciting prizes, including exclusive merchandise and even a VIP trip to Los Angeles.

While the packaged cookies retain OREO’s signature round shape, they feature embossed symbols tied to Minecraft, such as the Pickaxe, Crystal, Sword, and Creeper. And true to the spirit of play, biting them into square shapes unlocks a themed AR experience similar to the one offered at the installation.
