“She disappeared…” Taylor Swift Fans Furiously Refute the ‘Pick Me’ Tag for Their Idol


After pineapple on pizza, if there is a question that could bombastically cause a divide on the Internet it concerns Taylor Swift, and whether or not one likes her. While deovted fanbases are recurrent in music history with the title of the most ‘crazed’, a word which has now bled into ‘toxic’, being passed around for decades. However, Swifties have managed to leave a more permanent sort of mark on the stone, perhaps due to their sheer quantity. While this is evident as they cause earthquakes while belting out her tunes, they are more frequently associated with riots on the Internet.

As the non-Swifties find another reason to nitpick at Taylor Swift, her fans too have to meet them with equal fervor as they battle it out. This time around the point on contention being whether or not Swift was a ‘pick me’, another patriarchal term now prevalent owing to the Internet’s grace. As a video of Taylor Swift accepting the Billboard Woman of the Decade Award resurfaced online along with the ‘pick me’ allegations, Swifties proved that indeed hell than no fury like a Taylor Swift fan scorned.

The internet, ever eager to clutch its pearls, recently stumbled upon a 2019 clip of Taylor Swift discussing her so-called “disappearance” after ‘Reputation’. The statement, made in the wake of her three-year retreat post-1989, sent non-Swifties into a predictable frenzy, misreading it as a fresh confession, as they fired shots stating that it was far from the truth citing the back to back drops of ‘Midnights’ along with the re-release of her albums, all topped off by ‘The Totured Poets Department’.

Showcasing the grit of a warrior in a real battalion, Swifties got down and dirty to defend Taylor Swift’s honor.

Criticism regarding her music is one thing and pointing fingers at her personality is another, and both are things that the Swifties cannot handle when it comes to Taylor Swift. And these metaphorical guns were put to good use as the non Taylor Swift fans slipped with their timings.

Reiterating how Taylor Swift was in fact nowhere to be seen before her ‘Reputation’ album drop, making the release all the more phenomenal, several fans stated matter of factly that “She disappeared from the public eye around 2016ish” reffering to the singer’s disappearance not just from the music scene but the public eye in general.

While Swifties will definitely win this crafted ‘war’ against the opposition, they themselves have found themselves at a cross regarding her latest album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ which led to an array of discssion regarding its quality and content. Regardless, Swift has traveled the seven seas with her Eras Tour, and if there is any truth to the ‘Reputation’ Easter eggs, then she is not stopping anytime soon.
