Revealed: How Olivia Henson took inspiration from Kate Middleton in her bridal look as she wed the Duke of Westminster at Chester Cathedral

Olivia Henson took inspiration from Kate Middleton‘s bridal look for her lavish wedding at Chester Cathedral last week.

She tied the knot to the Duke of Westminster in a picturesque ceremony which was dubbed the society event of the season.

Olivia, 31, wowed her 400 guests and her husband Hugh Grosvenor in a vintage-style silk wedding gown by British designer Emma Victoria Payne.

The bespoke embroidery design on the bride’s gown and veil was hand-drawn by the designer, featuring floral motifs and edgings from Olivia’s great great grandmother’s veil from around 1880.

She also wore the Faberge Myrtle Leaf Tiara made for Grosvenor brides to wear on their wedding day and it has been in the Grosvenor family since its creation in 1906.

Olivia looked every inch a Duchess as she wore her hair in a sophisticated and regal updo, a traditional and popular hairstyle among aristocratic brides.

It was styled with a side parting and a chignon at the nape of her neck to help keep her delicate lace veil in place.

Since their big day on 7 June, it has since been revealed that Olivia’s hair stylist was Richard Ward Hair’s Artistic Director, Cristiano Basciu.

The salon is loved by royals and the hairdressers are regularly used by Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh and the Princess of Wales.

Along with a team of seven other stylists, Basciu was the person in charge of Kate’s hair on the day she tied the knot with Prince William in 2011.

But Kate went against tradition and instead opted to wear her hair in a half-up, half-down hairstyle instead of the classic up-do.

The salon is also behind the future Queen’s famous bouncy blow-drys. Speaking to MailOnline last year, Richard said: ‘Soft, loose curls are handy for outdoor engagements because they hold up well against the weather if it takes a windy turn.

‘If you’re being blown about a bit they will just look beachy and natural as they brush against your face, which can be very flattering.’

Olivia, known for her laid-back approach to beauty, looked radiant with her up-do and opted for minimal, natural makeup on her big day.

Richard and Hellen took to the Richard Ward Instagram page and wrote: ‘We are immensely proud of our exceptionally talented Artistic Director, Cristiano, for his incredible work creating the stunning hairstyles for the wedding of the Duke of Westminster and Olivia Henson.

‘Cristiano’s attention to detail and creative vision have once again set a new standard in bridal hairstyling, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to celebrate his achievements. Richard & Hellen Xx’

Members of the royal family were present at Olivia and Hugh’s wedding, including Princess Eugenie and the Prince of Wales.

But Kate – who has been out of the spotlight as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy – did not attend.

Hugh is the godfather to William’s son Prince George and Prince Harry‘s son Archie and while William played a major role at the service, Harry remained in California.

After the happy couple sealed the society wedding of the year with a kiss and guests including the Prince of Wales departed the cathedral, an orange fire extinguisher was let off by Just Stop Oil protesters.

The ill-timed stunt was met with a chorus of boos by outraged members of the crowd, with one describing the activists as ‘idiots’.

The sound of jeers quickly turned into cheers as the extinguisher was snatched away by police officers and the two silver-haired female protesters were restrained.

Olivia, who went to Marlborough College, like the Princess of Wales and Princess Eugenie, is senior account manager at Belazu, an environmentally friendly company which imports chef-quality, sustainably-sourced ingredients.

Hugh, who is worth an estimated £10billion, has increasingly started to initiate various eco-friendly practices, including renewable energy projects, green building codes and biodiversity conservation efforts.

He inherited his wealth from his father, who passed away suddenly died aged 64 in 2016.
