Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt was left fuming when he was stopped from entering his local tip in his Range Rover
Nicky Butt has addressed the incident that led to him being banned from his local recycling centre
Nicky Butt has been kicked out of his local tip after a ‘raging row’ with workers. Butt, one of the Class of 92, blew his top when staff branded his Range Rover a commercial vehicle because the seats were folded flat. He dumped his ‘smelling bags’ anyway, prompting an employee to sprint after him.
According to The Sun, Butt said: “There’s this guy at the gate bit, and he flags me down and goes, ‘Put your windows down I need to look in the back of your car’. I’m going, ‘What for?’
“I’ve got a lot of crap from the house, bit of cardboard… I missed the bin man last week, so I’ve got a few smelly bags.
“So I put the windows down, obviously my seats were down and apparently I’m not going in because it’s a commercial van.
“So I’m raging, literally. I’m putting a bit of cardboard in the tip.”
Butt also claimed he was told he was ‘sneaking’ rubbish into the tip due to the blacked out windows on his Range Rover.
He added: “I thought, well, I’m there now, I’m gonna go for it. So I’ve got up the ramp, I see this bloke getting up…
“Trying to chase me up the hill, but he’s got his walkie-talkie out.

“So I’ve literally got up the top, throw all the bags out, and I’m going back down the hill, and he’s going mad at me.
“Anyway, I’m banned from the tip.”
Butt was a vital cog in the United machine throughout the 1990s, collecting six Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League before his switch to Newcastle in 2004.
He remained at St James’ Park for another six years, which included a loan spell at Birmingham City, before calling time on his playing career following a stint in China.
Since retiring, he has taken on various positions at United and owned a share in Salford City, where he served as CEO between 2022 and 2024.
