Influencer Nara Smith has shared the devastating news that her two-year-old daughter has been diagnosed with cancer. The content creator, 24, revealed her and fellow model Lucky Blue Smith’s two-year-old daughter Whimsy Lou’s diagnosis.
Uploading a video to Instagram, an emotional Nara said: “There is no easy way to say this or to talk about any of this. But, late last year our daughter Whimsy got diagnosed with cancer.”
Nara didn’t specify what cancer her child has been diagnosed with, but said they were told the sad news late last year. She explained that the family took her to the hospital after seeing “something suspicious” on Whimsy.
“I just remember him going really quiet and calm and my heart dropped in that moment,” she added. “I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom’s intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer.”
After evaluation, including X-rays, ultrasounds and a biopsy, the couple were immediately called to reveal the devastating news. And they were informed that the youngster would have to start chemo treatments immediately.
Nara added: “A lot of you have probably realised that I’ve been posting a little less and this is the reason why. Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging.”
She is hoping that by speaking publicly and openly about Whimsy’s condition she might be able to help others.
“Throughout all of this I’ve been on a plethora of forums, social media, also talked to parents and family in the hospital, and all of that combined really brought me a lot of comfort and alleviated the feeling of loneliness for me,” she said.
“We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort or even incentivise you to go get something checked out that you’ve been avoiding.”
Nara and her husband, Lucky Blue, 28, have four children. They are also parents to daughters Rumble Honey, five, and Fawnie Golden, 10 months, as well as a son, Slim Easy, who is four years old.
The couple met on social media in 2019 after Lucky Blue approached her in her DMs. In a YouTube video he previously said: “I messaged her on Instagram about a year ago.
“I don’t know why I didn’t message her before I did, but it took me like a year to message her … but I messaged her, we started texting, I got her number.”
After the duo shared messages for a few days they then swapped numbers and spoke on the phone. They continued to do so each night until meeting in person at Milan Fashion Week. Nara now has 4.7 million followers on Instagram where she shares food recipes and updates about her family life.
